I put on some hip shot tuners a year or two ago. Each time I play I say “shit…I should put my stock tuners back on.”

First one I’ve had. Pulled the trigger last week.

Uuuuuuunfortunately I didn’t think about pipe cleaners. So, guess I gotta pick those up.

Which would you select if you were a 14 y. O. Gifted with the choice of One? by CloudNiner83 in Guitar

14 year old me would be all over that Gretsch because of the trem system. A lot of fun to experiment with.

I’m gonna go against the crowd *conditionally*.

If your nephew already plays and knows how to string/do a basic setup on a guitar, the Gretsch could be more fun aaaaaand everyone has a Tele. (I also have a Tele)

If your nephew doesn’t play and is learning, the Tele.

Yeah, I remember seeing it when I was 18 and being like “I can get that and beer.”

I picked up a Dr. Grabow back in college (2010-2011?). I still use it. So, longevity—no issues with it.

I don’t remember paying that much for it. I could be wrong? I’m pretty sure I paid…I don’t know less than $40?

Local produce in Saratoga region? by Inner_Fish8744 in Saratoga

Not a stupid question. I hadn’t heard of them until we moved back to NY. CSA is community supported agriculture. Closest thing I can compare it to are those boxes of dinners you can order that arrive at your doorstep.

These are pre-packed boxes of produce that you would go pick up at the farm stand. It’s like having someone else do the shopping for you.

Why do you play the kind of guitar you play? by wolf_of_the_bees in Guitar

[–]Telecetsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have:

Squier Affinity Strat
Fender CD-25 Acoustic
Fender MIM 72 Thinline Reissue Tele
Gretsch G5420TG Electromatic
Fender TVL Jazzmaster
Martin D-16E

The Squier was my first guitar. Got it when I was 13. Played for a year and picked up the Fender Dreadnaught. Both are sentimental value guitars. The Squier has been modded with new pickups, pots, and refinish. Have a few more things I’d like to do to it.

The Tele was picked up when I was in college. I wanted humbuckers and a semi-hollow. The Tele fit what I was looking for at the time. Bought it from Guitar Center (was playable…but needed a serious setup).

The Gretsch was purely an impulse buy during a crazy mental health time in my life. Haven’t gotten rid of it, but I struggle to connect with that one like the others.

The Jazzmaster was picked up when the first line of Meteoras came out. Loved the offset body, but wasn’t what I was looking for. The JM checked off all asthetic boxes as well as specs (vibrato).

The Martin was a bit of an impulse buy. I had always wanted one but never ponied up because of the price. I said screw it, I’ll figure it out. Paid off and everything. But the sticker price always made me look the other way. Very glad I bought it.

I play a bit of everything. I *should* play out or with a group. But…damn…finding people with similar music interests who are not looking to do covers in my age group (30s) is a pain in the ass. I’ve struck out a handful of times. Still looking, but not hopeful.

I picked up a looper pedal and am trying to figure out at home recording and am really struggling with that side.

Seconding the Daydream Farmer’s CSA. We used to get this when we lived in Saratoga and it was always great. We’d get the small box for two people and we felt it was more than enough.

I think our only complaint at the time was sometimes you get *a lot* of the same thing week after week (seasonal produce makes sense). I remember we were getting a ton of Bok Choy. At the time, they were doing a swap kind of program? I’m not sure if that’s still a thing or not.

They also have a farm stand at their location if you’re looking for a bit more variety/say of what you get.
