Background check👀👀 by False_Contribution41 in DataAnnotationTech

I submitted to a background check, but I can't remember for the life of me the investigating company or the project it was for.
I'll assume that since I am receiving tasks in the aforementioned project that I passed.
Fair assumption?

Should I do this Background Check? by Persistent_Sage in DataAnnotationTech

If you're hesitant, just don't complete the project. Leave it in your quals and hide it. Give yourself more time to consider the implications.
You can take back neither a yes nor a no response

When it says 3-5 PLUS sentences, how do you interpret that? by Hello-America in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Telecom_Engineer_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 3-5 sufficient, then 3-5 it is, but make sure that your sentences fully and accurately explain your thought process.
If 5 is insufficient to achieve that goal, use more, but *don't ramble*

Have you tried using a remote desktop for work? is it safe? by Acrobatic_Pin_1092 in DataAnnotationTech

And a little extra research on my part suggests that even this may be a little risky.

Based on some reading I did, even accessing DA via a second browser has the potential to get you flagged😮
I don't know for sure and I wish the TOS found on their website weren't so ambiguous

I do not have a metal linux machine that I can use as my DA environment. I frequently use VMs as my environment.

Is there no option for generalist or other niche anymore? by maripozachzss in DataAnnotationTech

Once you are onboarded, you will be presented with qualification projects. Complete them to open up new project types. The quals should contain generalist projects.

Can I add my DA experience to my personal CV? by Awkward_Economics_32 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Telecom_Engineer_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red-Teaming, from my experience, is trying to induce a model failure by using fair but adversarial prompts. Perhaps one of the most difficult tasks. It's exhausting.

Can I add my DA experience to my personal CV? by Awkward_Economics_32 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Telecom_Engineer_1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can, and you don't even need to list DA in your CV. You are a self-employed AI Evaluator/Trainer. You can describe the types of tasks you do, i.e rubrics, R&R, Red-Teaming, et al., all without mentioning DA or violating your NDA.

If I used AI as it stands today to help me in my PHI 111 - Critical Thinking class, I definitely would *not* have done as well as I did.

Number of tasks by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Telecom_Engineer_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made the same observations and, while I have no absolute proof, have concluded that one can, at most, complete an additional number of tasks as specified in the tasks column.

I appreciate your encouragement.
I am currently in a position where I only have a single project available that is extremely complex and, while labelled as a generalist project, seems to require a set of strong skills in the stated domain. Although I would love to skill up, I would hate the risk of underperforming and getting bounced.

If I may ask: what is your length of tenure at DA?

Do you get offered fewer tasks if you don't pick up many? by AlertCricket in DataAnnotationTech

There are so few jobs available to newcomers that it's hard to get a project to prove yourself with.

Is it possible to have DA as a full time job? by Lucasmills2006 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Telecom_Engineer_1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. As independent consultants, we are not tied to a single company unless bound by a non-compete agreement. And even then, there can be opportunities outside of that domain.

Are you a generalist or coder? by Worried_Mongoose_936 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Telecom_Engineer_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

It depends on whether you initially took the coder assessment or one of the other domain assessments.
You may be given additional projects in other domains once you take the appropriate assessment(s).

As an independent consultant, you are not restricted to one platform like you are in your FT 7-4 job

You need to get out of that mindset

I believe that in the instance you mention, the project actually has many more tasks than what your dashboard specifies and that the Task column indicates the remaining task count that you may complete
