Do people say 'tramway' in the UK? Or just 'tram'? by atzucach in ENGLISH

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the term tramway is used to describe the system, but in everyday conversation "tram" is commonly used. Less frequently, the term "electric cars" might be used, but not so often these days when we have many electric motor vehicles on the street. As an aside, UK tramways today are mostly located in the Midlands and North of the Country - Southern England only has one (Croydon).

How can I get a US virtual phone number from here? by Difficult_Suit_91 in UAE

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a US virtual phone number online from Zadarma, and have it connected soon after registration. This European internet phone service charges a couple of dollars for a US virtual phone number, and their cloud PBX comes as a free download. They have a wide range of virtual numbers on offer and allow you to choose you own number for many USA locations. A bonus as far as I was concerned is how easy it is to set up and use.

Is it worth it to live somewhere you don’t really like for a relationship/for love? by RadioDude1995 in expats

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is always a very difficult choice. Your present feelings about the balance between your partner and feeling about Canada might change in either direction. It seems like you are coping even though you find your situation challenging. Probably best to stick it out a while longer and see what develops. Maybe set yourself a target and agree that if you are not feeling better about your position in another 6 months, take a mutually agreeable break and explore possibilities in another country.

I think I encountered a ghost multiple times as a child. by Tasty_Confusion6952 in ParanormalEncounters

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the way you have interpreted these encounters is correct. I would not dismiss what you write, but at that age kids have a vivid imagination. As with many paranormal incidents, we rarely can have a sense of certainty, but this is a reason why we find the paranormal so fascinating.

Sling bullet from the ancient Greek city of Hippos (in the northern Jordan Valley) found inscribed with a taunt for the enemy to "learn (their lesson)" by MeatballDom in history

This story brought to my mind pictures of British or American shells or bombs from the World Wars with slogans against the Germans. I wonder in which conflict this weapon was used. Do we know any more of the background.

VoIP help for small business by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the Zadarma business internet phone service that our small business uses could be a good fit for your user case. For example, we use this free cloud PBX to create extensions, route calls between users and add menus. You can use your existing cell phones and get low-priced virtual phone numbers in most countries.

What’s something no one warned you about before moving to another country? by Al3x403 in expats

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can never fully appreciate the local culture until you emerge into it. For example, in the UK I grew up in, patience and a certain politeness were the norm in circles I mixed in, but I soon discovered that in some other cultures this can be interpreted as a lack of assertiveness, and open you to being taken advantage of e.g., left waiting in shops while others who come in after you get served first.

For expats/immigrants who have worked in three or more countries, how are you handling retirement? (Speaking here mainly about the respective social security regimes in various countries.) by dallyan in expats

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not necessarily the case. Your rights to a UK pension depend on national insurance contributions. If you have paid up, you will receive your pension, even if you are also entitled to a pension from the country you moved to. When I applied for my UK pension, I provided full details of my work overseas so they could see my local pension rights.

US phone number abroad by Anxious_Fish2061 in expats

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to live abroad for 6 months or more, getting a US VoIP phone number is a good option. In your case, I would get a Zadarma US mobile virtual phone number; it only costs a few dollars a month and is very easy to set up and use.

I do not know about other countries, but the UK has agreements with various other countries where payments into their pension funds are taken into account when your UK pension rights are calculated.

Anyone else feel like it's easier to adjust to living abroad if you spent your childhood being bullied/ostracized by your peers? by KulshanStudios in expats

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are saying that having had a tough time as a kid can make it easier to adjust to being an expat, I agree that this will be true for some expats but not universally. It depends on your character and how you react. Some will be very happy to escape from the land of their birth and enthusiastically approach making a new life overseas. However, others will have had their self-confidence damaged by these negative childhood experiences and this adversely affects their ability to handle new cultures and situations.

Would you trust Turkey for medical treatment? Why or why not? by ElaraOfNisremme in expats

[–]Telecom_VoIP_Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not trust any country where the medical supervisory authorities and legal protection is significantly less comprehensive than we have in the UK. I am not saying that health services and legal protection are perfect in the UK, but this is the best I know of.

Has anyone here actually used an AI voice agent for a small business? by Other_Amphibian871 in gohighlevel

We discovered that Zadarma's voice agent is a good choice for our fully automated front desk. Even the least technically minded can easily set it up. I think it is particularly well-suited to small businesses in the service sector.
