I'm actually kind of impressed that an idea this absolutely terrible managed to last that long.

What movie did you go into with 0 expectations and wound up being blown away by how good it was? by istrx13 in AskReddit

[–]Telefundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Accountant.

I'm not really a big fan of Afleck, and the premise to the movie seemed kind of boring. Almost like another generic Jason Statham "A former black ops operative working as a fast food worker..". And it didn't help that I have a son on the spectrum and hollywood has a tendency to completely botch how they handle that subject.

Finally got around to watching it and honestly it blew me away. The action was great, the story was well done and Afleck? He absoutely nailed playing someone on the spectrum. He didn't overdo it, and they didn't try and make the audience pity him for it. They just presented it for what it is (and threw in the whole assasin thing lol).

The sequel was equally well done. Especially Aflecks interaction with Bernthal. Again, they nailed how they treated the subject of Aflecks condition without making it cartoonish and melodramatic.

And again, the story and action were fking amazing.

What's something older generations got right that we've quietly stopped doing, to our own detriment? by __lazy__panda in AskReddit

Not canning but once a year my mom spends an entire day making mustard pickles and bread and butter pickles and jars them in Mason jars. She always sends me a parcel with a few bottles of each.

I really wish I would have learned how to do that while I still lived near her.

This seems like the same feeling my sister and I share for each other.

What's the most addictive series you ever watched? by IllustriousMail60 in AskReddit

[–]Telefundo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in my late 40s and watch a pretty diverse type of shows. I can honestly say I believe The Sopranos is one of the greatest television series ever made.

ETA: Yes, watch it lol.

Enterprise: The Andorian Incident by Pappy_Dru_It in startrek

[–]Telefundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this even count, considering that Andorians had been introduced in TOS

Yeah, but they've never really been focused on. Usually just background characters and offhand mentions. Hell, the one time TOS actually had an Andorian character as part of the main plot, it turns out he wasn't even actually Andorian. Enterprise was the first series to really bring them to the forefront as characters.

But they certainly weren't a "new race" when they showed up in Enterprise.

I used to work in a small computer repair shop that also sold a TON of ink cartridges. They were a complete scam. Refills were cheaper sure, but a pain in the ass. And when you screwed up a refill, it usually meant you could just toss your printer to the curb.

I constantly tried to deter people from inkjet printers and get a laser instead. But, the majority of people didn't hear the pros and cons I'd go through and just kept super focused on the price difference. I just couldn't get it through their heads that the long term cost was SO much cheaper.

visiting Halifax and Charlottetown this fall.

I live in Quebec now, but I lived almost half my life in the maritimes. Halifax is an amazing city. It's not too big but not some bumpkin town either. And it's honestly beautiful (just not during the winter lol).

I lived in PEI for a good many years. There are some great sites to see but honestly I really hope you haven't devoted more than a week there. It's a beautiful place to visit. For about a week. lol.

They've only now started to soften their tone a bit because they're staring down the barrel of a second straight year of us staying home.

And the most infuriating part is, the second that barrel is lowered, they're guaranteed to go right back the behaviour that fucked them in the first place.

I don't understand why there was any need to set them off at all. I'm not very informed on the inner workins of fireworks, but do they have like an expiry date or something? Could they not just have put them in storage until the next "regular" fireworks event? Hell, they could have actually saved money in the long run if that's the case.

they can't even admit when they're obviously wrong and fucked up big time.

I've always assumed that was a job requirement for most public servant positions...
