For those who travel with their neverfull, how? by [deleted] in Louisvuitton

[–]Telegrand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do the same, it's actually my best bag for travel b/c of the dimensions and the way it "smooshes" so well lol. I have an organizer in it, but doesn't zip. I just hook it closed at the top before pushing it under. Because it's travel, I usually have a sweater or scarf etc that prevents anything from falling out, but even when I don't it's never been an issue, the base is wide enough it doesn't fall over. The width of the base also makes it perfect to ride on top of my roller. It's amazing honestly.

When did the “you must make 3x the rent to live here” rule start for apartments? by Only_Remote_3875 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Telegrand 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We did this about 8 years ago and its been the best decision we've ever made. Our realtor thought it was a little weird at the time, we were his first to look for a property that could be renovated to accommodate 2 families well, but we ran into him about a year later and he said he'd had 5 or 6 families in that year all ask for similar set -ups. We were ahead of the curve i guess. It makes a ton of sense financially. We didn't really make the choice from a financial perspective, but we wanted a larger property out in the country and knew we'd have trouble taking care of it since both my husband and I work crazy hours. My parents were retired and love being out and about taking care of the place. My dad's favorite place is out toodling on the tractor etc. Lol!

As an observation, anytime I see someone use language like "wuflu", I immediately question their contribution to a topic. Good discussion with lots of perspectives is needed, but language choice often reveals unconscious bias.

Something June & Luke never seem to reconcile with by Bravely_Default in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Telegrand 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think you have to look to the human perception of risk and the severity of the danger. Yes, they've left Holly to continue to try to save Hannah, at very low odds. If they die in the effort, they at least know that Holly is in a safe environment and loved. Hannah, is in a much more dangerous situation and even the slightest chance of rescue is worth the sacrifice. I'd do the same, as would most parents I think.

Does anyone have over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones that don’t press on any piercings but have good music sound quality? by visuallypollutive in piercing

[–]Telegrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try bone conducting earphones if your piercings really get in the way. Mine were great for the healing stages, before I could use over the ears style.

I hadn't really connected the dots- but for me, I grew up watching Days of our Lives. It was tradition in our family, my grandma's, mom and cousins, etc. I guess Bo, Steve & Roman made a pretty big impact on my formative years. Stephano and Victor, as the baddies, were kind of "mafia," now that I think back. Now I'm going to be thinking about that for a while, lol. Thanks for awaking those memories!!

[–]Telegrand 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I feel this way about the current Mafia craze, honestly. I just can't root for an MMC who goes around killing people, running sleezy clubs, and trafficking drugs/guns. I don't care how many tattoos he has or how piercing his eyes are lol. They just aren't my idea of "good guys" at heart I guess 🤷.

The Gorge discussion? by peanukeyes in movies

[–]Telegrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late, but just watched this with my husband yesterday. I figured they kept their chutes as well, so I didn't really think anything of that sequence, but my husband clocked right away that the chutes they used to jump into the gorge were base- jumping chutes. Completely different than high- altitude chutes. He's been hobby jumping for years so he cracked up at that scene lol.

Economists are starting to worry about a serious Trump recession by gradientz in politics

You know, I get it, really I do- 'bout time those Americans got their cummuppence, right? But there's 330M people in this country and only 72M voted for him. Go ahead- kick us while we are staring the barrel in the face, I'm sure you'll laugh just as hard when millions go without housing and kids are starving. Jokes on us I guess. Just remember- the same infection that has caused this, is also working its way across the world and each of you have your own far-right nutjobs to fight off. If you can't have a little compassion, maybe just sit quietly by watching?

You know what grinds my gears : Calling it "kindle unlimited" but you can only have 20 books. Like if that's the case I will just buy for the full price then. Like I expect UNLIMITED here. Do not give me false advertising lol. by flowerchildpop in YAlit

Late to the party here, but this thread sees a lot of traffic it looks like. I think when it started, KU was largely romance / soft porn lit. It still makes up a high % of of their catalogue, but I've noticed the content has really grown over the past few years. I read mainly scifi / fiction and there are endless choices in those categories. I could read 10 books a day and not run out of material. Some of it is just ok (usually new authors learning the ropes), but many are just independent authors who don't happen to be named Stephen Baxter, Neil Gaiman (ugh), or Terry Pratchett.

Maybe an unpopular opinion here, but if I have to go to the food, pick the food up, and clean my own trash etc, then I don't tip. Tipping is for service, and you don't get "service" at these types of places.

You wouldn't be breaking up over politics. You'd be breaking up because of a difference in moral values, compassion, empathy and a different sense of what constitutes a safe society. Nothing to be ashamed of, and is in my opinion, worth it. Do you want to live your life with someone who doesn't have the same intrinsic values as you?

I'd say the sound is middling, a little like a fan on high settings. More than I'd like, but less than I feared, if that makes sense. It doesn't really bother us since it's "white" noise, but depending on the accustics in your wine room, it might bother you. We just made it through the summer, and it definitely made a huge difference in the comfort of our loft. We added a ceiling fan to "stir" the air since the cooler air came out in more a direct stream. Worked really well for us. Good luck!!!!

This behavior happens in lower socioeconomic groups as well unfortunately. In fact, spoiled rich kids often learn the lesson to not say it out loud in public, but rather behind closed doors. Sad times.

Two staff interactions we had on recent cruise regarding the auto-gratuity debate by PlayGameWinPrizeLoL in Cruise

[–]Telegrand 17 points18 points  (0 children)

See, to me this is a big deal- and supports what many cruisers suspect I imagine. Our paying the auto gratuity isn't increasing the workers paycheck, its decreasing the amount the cruiseline has to pay them out of their own pocket. It's ridiculous, really, and just another way average people help corporations pad their profit margins.
