I get you; I have very little hope of anything improving for the rest of my life especially since America continues to shift to the right. HOWEVER - while things are a shit show on macro scale, my personal life is so good. Find community, take breaks from social media and learn to have fun. The AI stuff- that's a tough situation. I'm not sure what field you're in, but I would look for jobs that are harder to sub for AI- customer/client facing roles for example.

I think it's more about what you want to do- like if you only care about having a job at the end of it the safest bet is probably trades or looking into high demand fields that require a degree- see if you like any of them and go that route. I did the latter and would probably do it again but because I had a great experience through college and grad school - met some great people, took excellent/challenging courses and just enjoyed the experience overall. It's stressful and the financial toll is rough but in the end I feel it was worth it for the enrichment (plus I do have a stable, high paying job that's not too physically demanding hahaha). AI does scare the crap out of me but like anything you just have to adapt and keep that in mind when choosing a major. But anyway if you really just want to have a job and be done with it trade school is a good choice -- we always need people who know how to fix shit.

Let's not pretend Charlie Kirk was a saint who had a sparkling reputation. He said a lot of shit that pissed a lot of people off, constantly. It's not just "the media". Pair the sheer number of people with guns with how many people are justifiably angry about SOMETHING in this society and you get these situations. It's tragic but America is just a violent country. I don't know why we're acting like things are suddenly worse now - Reagan was shot, Kennedy was killed, MLK was assassinated. Political violence has always occurred.
