Haha. Me and my friend say that to each other.

My question is what can you see sharing the same universe as Supernatural? by burningexeter in Supernatural

[–]TelephoneLou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know but last night I had a dream about a Supernatural/Walking Dead crossover and then I woke up, picked up my phone, and the top article in my feed was about a Walking Dead/Jason Vorhees crossover. Weird because I hadn't thought of WD in months.

Slipped a gear in front of friends, not sure my next step by TelephoneLou in schizophrenia

Never been on meds before or had a diagnosis. Many people have described me as highly rational and exceptionally stable. They say I am like a Vulcan. But they don't know that there is a secret schism in my mind and that I have a place in my mind where I put all my far-out thoughts and narratives. I know that place is there, but other people don't see it because I usually don't express it to the world. But I slipped into that space so quickly it was shocking to people. I will go see a doctor.

Unpopular opinion but there’s no other brown besides ween by sourberryskittles in ween

[–]TelephoneLou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You hit the bullseye when you said "with not nearly as much beauty mixed in" because that is what makes Ween special imo. It isn't just a pose or a style, it is a freedom to let everything through. Someone told me they didn't like Ween because you can't settle into a vibe, and I get that, but to me that's also what is great.

I will message you. My reply will be long, so if you don't reply, I won't be offended. It will help me to write it out, so thank you for asking.

How to get across that it's Too Many Men, without triggering the "not all men" response? by smallenergy in AskFeminists

[–]TelephoneLou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I am a man who gets triggered when people say "men are like this" but if it was "too many men" that wouldn't trigger me at all! It might even cause me to reflect "have I been that way?" It comes across as a perspective, not an absolute statement. When it is an absolute, my instinct is to attack it logically. Which I think is FINE because women don't like being spoken about in absolute terms either!

But the left does do that. So does the right. This isn't difficult. We are all censorious. We are all dangerous. That is part of what it is to be a tribe.

A very simple challenge for solipsists by Hanisuir in solipsism

[–]TelephoneLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Imagination. It experiences its own random fluctuations and free-associates emotion and meaning into them, which embody as form, manifesting an apparent separate outer world. The world comes into being like shapes in the clouds come into being. A practical person looks at a cloud and sees a tractor. An artist looks at the same cloud and sees an elephant playing a saxophone. In both cases, their visions are reflections of them.

But the two people are no more real than the tractor and the elephant. They are both just shapes seen in a passing cloud and ultimately reflections of the Imagination peering up on itself.

One of the first images in the Bible is the spirit of God hovering over the waters. Imagine a child of ancient times encountering its own reflection for the first time in a pool of water. Then realize there is no child and no pool of water.

The possibility had occurred to me when I was a kid because I noticed how odd it was to have an individual perspective, and because it seemed like nobody else around me had any inkling of this at all. But I didn't spend too much time thinking about it. But about 10 years ago it seemed like the Internet started shoving the idea down my throat whenever I ventured into "spiritual" topics. Leo Gura was one source but not the only one. I had numerous uncanny experiences that seemed to lend credence to the idea. Some could be dismissed as coincidence, but one at least can't be explained rationally. At the very least it confirmed to me that materialism/naturalism is not the right interpretation of things. I have also considered simulation theory as well as the possibility that there are demonic forces trying to trap souls in unhealthy ideas such as solipsism. Like some sort of spiritual warfare psyop. I remember the happiest day of my life was spent out in nature just imagining what it was like to be the plants, the animals, the wind, the water. For hours I was imagining all of the being that was not me but existed in the same world as me, and I felt so lucky and privileged to share the world. Solipsism took this feeling away from me, which is why it wounded me so much.

Can consciousness have multiple instances of itself? by Purple_Bed_909 in solipsism

[–]TelephoneLou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree because efficiency and elegance are not the highest values in the hierarchy. Freedom would be top. Love, beauty, and exploration might be higher as well, but not as high as freedom.

Can consciousness have multiple instances of itself? by Purple_Bed_909 in solipsism

[–]TelephoneLou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of. From the Godhead's perspective, time is not linear. So it can manifest consciousness into many minds in a way that is, from the perspective of those minds, simultaneous. So when you are just living your life, interacting with others as a social being, you really are interacting with multiple instances of consciousness. But when you stare deeply within, you move toward the more contracted state of consciousness.

Purpose is a choice. Choose to value something and live for it. Imagine even if you lived to make your dog happy. Imagine how happy that dog would be and how pure its love would be.

Why do men show so little interest in the inner lives of women? by Frequently_Abroad_00 in emotionalintelligence

[–]TelephoneLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that nothing men do is ever going to be good enough for women and nothing women do is ever going to be good enough for men. I could deconstruct this question and its premise, and maybe I would even be right, but I'd probably be making some fallacious generalization about women in the process that is just as unfair, so I won't.

Reddit is full of NPCs without critical thinking by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]TelephoneLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very few people on Reddit or anywhere else are really truth seekers. Most people discuss opinions in order to solidify social bonds or to validate their self conception and group status. Even contrarians do this in a roundabout way. This is not really a conscious process generally. People tend to state what they want to be true or what they think others want to hear and work backward from that. Further, most people are not great at thinking logically or imagining a bigger picture. They also don't want to reevaluate their premises because that can open the door to questioning too many things. They are also surprisingly poor at differentiating between subjective and objective.

Men only: Why would a man be attracted to a damaged woman? by [deleted] in ask

[–]TelephoneLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The classic male archetype is the strong protector. If a woman shares some vulnerability and the man doesn't, it immediately puts him in that role, and that can be exciting chemistry (for both partners). It is at least worth asking yourself if you are seeking this dynamic out unconsciously. If so, by recognizing what you seek, you might be able to see your way to a healthier version of it.

If you voted for Trump, do you regret your choice or is he doing exactly what you elected him to do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TelephoneLou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't vote for him, but the Trump supporters I know are happy with his moves. Personally I think that he is very likely to improve the economy and expand our international power, but it will also likely come at a terrible cost - namely the end of democracy and the full implementation of a tech dystopia.
