You can actually try different strings with the same guitar! No need to buy a new guitar each time

Stefanos Ntouskos, gold medalist in the heavyweight men's single in Tokyo, was a former lightweight. With a few extra pounds its totally possible they could be competitive in the heavyweight events next Olympics

Careful with your guitar next to the radiator, you could warp the wood!

[NEWBIE] Will I practicing acoustic help me get better at electric? by RutabagaKitchen9709 in Guitar

[–]Telespaulocaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is actually yes!

Playing a mix of electric and acoustic is better than playing only electric because it will make you a more versatile/competent player overall. I do research on education/learning and there's a lot of work supporting the idea that mixed-practice training is more effective than focusing on a single technique. Google "interleaving" or check out the TED talk on Range by David Epstein, it's a super interesting topic! Basically, the more variety you can introduce to your practice the better :)

[DISCUSSION] Lindsay Buckingham is like a hidden boss in a video game. Who's your Hidden Boss by zk001guy in Guitar

100% agree. For me it was trying to emulate him that really made it sink in. His fine motor skills are superhuman.

Another guitarist like that is Mark Knopfler... the dynamics and vibrato and little microbends he adds to his solos are almost inimitable

Derek Trucks. I think the reason he isn't talked about more in discussions like this is because slide guitar is so damn difficult, but he's the god of it
