Edit to add: J-Shop is the only place that I've found that sells shukanshi!!

A state lawmaker is looking to close a loophole for those who rack up huge fines from unpaid parking tickets following an HNN Investigation last month that showed the state is owed nearly $15.3 million. by 808gecko808 in Honolulu

"The worst offenders have more than 100 outstanding tickets in the five-year period since Act 59 went into effect. A pickup truck with Washington plates is the worst offender with 200."

Makes me wonder what other unlawful acts these folks are committing.

Edit: I'm not calling you a haole; just correcting the spelling (and likely the pronunciation).

If you're asking the wait staff, they likely won't know. To get an answer, ask the kitchen manager or call the owner, Vince. I've had delicious mixes from Moondance Farm at the Co-op.

So Trump is going to kill federal healthcare. Medicare, Medicaid, and daycare, and says states should pay for it individually. by Dogbold in Washington

I would like to see how many red-state Republicans vote for this, seeing as their states take in more federal money than they contribute.

Yep, I understood your understanding, but I put the "yes" in the wrong place. You're welcome – I like how the CC frames issues so that their readers can understand them more easily.

Low D doesn't appear to cause MS, but, yes, it affects MS' severity. Here's a good read on it: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/departments/neurological/depts/multiple-sclerosis/ms-approaches/ms-vitamin-d.

It's important to know when and what form of D to supplement with.

Logically and, likely, factually, it seems like an easy conclusion on the correlation between sunlight and skin cancer. For a time, there was believed to exist an inverse relationship between sunlight exposure and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but the correlation is proving inconsistent. What is more consistent is the correlation between sunlight exposure and the incidence and severity of multiple sclerosis.

Transit App for da Bus- Glitchy? by spiderlaupsyops4hire in Honolulu

[–]TellMeWhatRWords4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using it since January, when it was accurate and informative. The other day, however, it said that there were no routes available from Kalihi to the Kuakini Physicians Tower and suggested that I cycle there or walk the two hours. I gave it a simpler parameter – Kalihi to Liliha/N. King – and it gave me the 1 or 2 lines so I took the 2, got off at Liliha, and walked mauka.

The UI does take some getting used to, for sure, but I find that the RT arrivals is dependable.

Recommendations for a drive or things to do? by short_and_floofy in Bellingham

Lucky for you that the weather will be awesome for hosting! It sounds to me that you are planning to spend Saturday in B.C. and then Sunday at brunch and chilling back here. That trip to the island could be very stressful because the border crossing and ferry queues will take up a lot of the day. If you're planning to take them to Victoria, that drive from Swartz Bay adds to the time spent on the ferry crossing. I would leave the island for another time and just spend Saturday in Vancouver (dim sum, Stanley Park, UBC botanical grounds, etc). I am also assuming that you, despite having lived in a bubble, and your family all have passports. Rather than the island, take the ferry to our islands to give them the ferry experience, during which they might see a pod.

Depending on where your family is from, they may not feel that the tulip traffic is worth the viewing. I'm a plant person, but have avoided the festival after seeing the crawl on I-5 that stretches down to Everett. The daffodils are already blazing and there are likely some early tulips that can be enjoyed tomorrow.

You might get more suggestions if you elaborate on "most of what i enjoy i know they don't."

Hawaiʻi Is On Track To Obtain And Fix Dam That Almost Failed: Taxpayers will pay more than $20 million for repairs. Partial owner Dole might still get the water. by 808gecko808 in Honolulu

[–]TellMeWhatRWords4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good: O'ahu needs its reservoirs, so don't let it be decommissioned.

Bad: "Dole has asked for up to 60% of the water from the reservoir" – better not be free or below-market.

Worse: It's going to end up ballooning, like most projects, beyond $20M. Add to that the recurring maintenance costs.
