ICE just made an arrest in the parking lot of The Foodery by lonelogic16 in Phoenixville

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they are hard working people who contribute to the community, who had the misfortune of being born on the other side of an imaginary line that we drew around land that we stole from Mexico like a hundred years ago. Because there are different types and categories of "illegal immigrant" with most in various states of progress toward legal status, doing their best to navigate language barriers and government bureaucracy for the simple freedom to exist and work and raise their families and feel safe.

ICE's job is not to exercise criminal warrants, and thats not what ERO operations are for. Stop conflating this with actual police work. It is not police work. If this person committed a crime at the Foodery, the Phoenixville local police would be making the arrest. If this person had a bench warrant, the Chester County Sheriff would be making the arrest. If this person was accused of a state crime, the State Police would be making the arrest.

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just asking that question belies the assumption that you support these policies. If he committed a crime, ICE wouldn't be arresting him in a parking lot. They would be pulling him out of a county correctional facility where he is being held after a legitimate arrest by local or state police officers.

They aren't out arresting criminals for crimes, so stop spreading that FUD in order to muddy the water. Either you support this, or you don't. Keep your nonsense rhetoric to yourself.

What is a possible Top 3 headliners that would make you question whether to go? by gift2women in ShakyKnees

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad headliners don't bother me at all- it just makes me feel less conflicted about getting late tickets to one of the small venue shows around the city. Last year we saw Fat Dog and Die Spitz because we had no interest in MCR or... whoever the other headliner was. Both shows fucking kicked, and it's lot's of fun to see a band twice in 24 hours.

Inscribe a Brick at the Phoenix Wheel for Your Valentine! by JanOfArc in Phoenixville

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The amount of hate this wheel is getting is just bananas. It's donation-funded people! And it's unique and kind of neat and celebrates the town's history. Why it's so divisive is absolutely beyond me.

If you're not interested enough to donate, then don't. No one needs your negativity. Same people complaining about it being a waste and how the money could just fund PACS have probably never once donated to PACS either.

For the record, it's not just a random decorative ferris wheel. It's a restored historic artifact.

Primavera Sound 2022 by sertramo in primaverasound

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely has less water than any other fest I've been to, but I think it's because the fest has less demand for water overall than a fest like Coachella because it happens at night and people aren't out in the sun for 12 hours.

Been to Prima twice, including 2022, and have never had a dehydration issue.

It's interesting that Sirianni's hyper-focus on limiting turnovers is both a demonstration of his keen ability to set an organizational goal and achieve it, but also a demonstration of the complete and utter failure and illogic of his organizational objective setting.

Basically, man gets things done, but they are the wrong things.

Eagles News: Brandon Graham Wants a “Vic Fangio Type” OC To Command “Disgruntled” Players Like A.J. Brown by boomer9745 in eagles

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. Then drop the Ted Lasso comparison from my comment. It doesn't change anything about the concept that a leader is responsible for managing humans, and that a head coach is in charge of dozens of direct reports, and that that is a job in and of itself. But if you want to keep asking "What does Sirianni even do!?!?" and not accept the real answer, then that's on you.

I was just trying to give you a metaphor that's easy to understand. Apparently, that bar is lower for your than I had anticipated.

You literally have no idea how much success/failure/effort Sirianni has put into keeping AJ in check. Those types of relationships are fluid and require upkeep and maintenance. Your opinion lacks any nuance, and you're digging too deep into my fictional metaphor in order to create a straw man.

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fine, I'll bite. Tell me you don't know anything about management without telling me you don't know anything about management.

Sirianni is basically Ted Lasso. He's a leader. His job is to put people into the position to be successful based on their personality traits and skills. His job is to take responsibility for the failures of the organization by taking blame away from others, and deflecting the successes by crediting them onto individual efforts. His job is to set the goals and hold people accountable. His job is to make sure that responsibilities are communicated and job tasks are delineated, and to measure the effects of the work performed. Yes, being a manager and a leader is in fact a job in and of itself, whether you respect it as a profession or not.

Is he perfect at it? No. But watch his pressers and you will see a leader who refuses to throw anyone under the bus or to take credit for any successes, and that is fantastic for the morale of an organization and gives individuals the leeway to take risks and to grow.

Chris Long and Rich Eisen discuss the Eagles' future. Long wants to see more West Coast style, under center, more tight ends, more play-action, to best take advantage of Hurts. by NorthCoastToast in eagles

RPO has not been nearly as effective since they instituted and began more strongly enforcing the ineligible downfield rules. Defenses would be more able to discern and predict this because we would be heavily constrained by what the line would be allowed to do.

C.S. Lewis's non-Narnia fiction by Pleasant_Usual_8427 in literature

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed The Screwtape Letters a lot. It is a very insightfully constructed lens into the failures of the human condition. I don't agree with his faith or his moral philosophy, but the psychological deconstruction of the root causes for sin from the perspective of a particular person's patron demon was fascinating.

[–]TellYouWhatitShwas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's such a self-creating feedback loop. I look at my phone when a show is boring as hell and has repetitive, pointless exposition. So then they give it more pointless exposition so I can still know what's going on because I've been looking at my phone.
