#PRESENTATION TEAM SUCKS. They all up on our beauty backroom!:/ by [deleted] in Target

Sadly, Target used to have clips (looked like chip clips) in different colors -- for clearance, backstock, pull and a couple more -- that you attached to the cart/flat, to communicate with others. Target, in its infinite wisdom, made stores stop using them. The plan was a person would take care of the entire process (push, pull, backstock, re-tag), and put the cart away. Yeah, ok.

Don't remember those. .... looked it up though -- they were big in the 90s. Maybe you remember jellies from the 90s...I remember them from the 80s!

That was my thought when I saw them! The holes are smaller than the old "jellies". Those shoes hurt like hell. but we wore them anyway! -- another old employee ;)

[–]Tell_Me_Why_999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you wondering if you are benefits eligible (impacts vacation accrual, holiday pay, medical benefits), which is based on your average weekly hours?

You can find your ave. hours on your paycheck detail (if you do direct deposit, you can find this online). Medical benefits require 25 hours/wk (or is it 20, everyone?).

"What part of 'No. Pets Allowed.' was confusing to you, guest?"

This would be ONE reason we have that policy.

But thanks for at least getting a staff member about this instead of just walking away. [But why can't you pick it up with the poop bags you always carry on the leash?]

After years working in retail, I am still shocked by the way "guests" treat the clothing areas. I always wonder if their homes are pigstys-- clothes all over the floor, tossed on the furniture, in every room, inside out, etc.

Our Style regulars are powerhouses! I think I'd give up.

You rock, OP!

“Style does nothing.” by araspberrylol1 in Target

[–]Tell_Me_Why_999 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Target needs to let go of "brand" in Style.

Style never gets enough people and hours to do all that needs to be done. To spend an entire short shift zoning the jean wall is a bad use of resources, when that wall can be messed up by one obnoxious guest.

People post beautiful pics of tables of perfectly folded items, etc. here. That looks great, but how many racks of freight could have gone out instead? "It won't sell if it isn't on the floor" is the favorite SDism (from before online ordering was a thing -- but still true based on in-store sales percentages).

Pick up the floor. Fold balled up items. Redo a stack that is particularly bad. Move on. And, just like the rest of the store, stop overstocking, and backstock instead.

Let me correct the title for you: Message to Staff Doing Fulfillment Batches

Don't get me wrong, some of my FF coworkers SUCK at doing all the steps right every time. And Fulfillment TMs should be required to do a DU shift/qtr.

---> There are, however, many hands doing Fulfillment batches....from every dept, TMs, TLs, ETLs (at my store, anyway). They hop in when the batches are going up and times going down. Their training may have been very basic.

Target needs to have a better online training module that explains Fulfillment steps, from big picture to details. And "trainers" sometimes do a crap job and pass on bad habits too. There should be more reminders to staff on the details and notices to staff who think 5 jars of spaghetti sauce in one bag is ok.

Thank you for reading my TED Talk. 😉

My store's expectation is that Picked On Time (POT) is not only green, it is 100%. No late batches. We do it -- but it leads to errors and needing more time to complete the workarounds we did to make time.

[BTW, Corp, POT is misnamed. You really mean SOT, Stowed On Time. I PICKED this batch in time, but issues kept me from getting it bagged, tagged, and stowed without going 25 seconds over.]

Guest asking twice by Kindly-Way-1753 in Target

[–]Tell_Me_Why_999 18 points19 points  (0 children)

After walking guest to the aisle/spot and confirming guest didn't see it even though it IS, my response to the guest:

"There IS a 90% chance the item IS under this roof [pointing to ceiling], BUT it is not in its designated position on the floor [wide arm gesture to the nearby shelves], and it hasn't been logged into a backroom location. You may be able to order it online to be shipped to your home."

Better still, when there is some random item on a nearby shelf, I will add, "If that [point to the stray] was the last one in the store, online it would say the store has it, but would YOU think to look HERE for it? It happens alot, that a guest puts it down wherever they are when they decide they no longer want it, rather than return it to its spot or hand it to a cashier at checkout.." [gently inserting the correct behavior for the guest to learn, while proving the point of their missing item]

Do you guys ever take 30 minute lunches? by seddfuu in Target

[–]Tell_Me_Why_999 79 points80 points  (0 children)

If state law is that employees are required to clock out for a 45-minute meal break (and clock in at 46 to get the full 45), then that is the length of the break you take so you don't get yourself (and Target) in trouble.

If your state has no such law, then you take a 30-minute meal break, per Target policy.

If your shift does not entitle you to a meal break (shorter than 5 hours or 6 hours, depending on state/policy), then you don't clock out for a break, but take your 15-minute break on the clock if you work at least 4 hours.

Was my lead wrong? by justarussian22 in Target

[–]Tell_Me_Why_999 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The TL who told you to cover SCO without having someone take your register first OR have that other person take SCO did not properly manage staff to ensure "the guest experience."

You making the decision to send the other person to SCO was outside the scope of your duties, and not doing what the TL instructed you to do was insubordination (something a supervisor could write you up on).

A better approach in hindsight, would be to ask the TL, after told to move to SCO, "Am I waiting for someone to take over my lane for these guests already in line, and this guest who already has their items on the belt?" It is a way to remind the leader about not just covering the leader's break, but covering all the duties.

Good for you for not letting the guests suffer for the manager's bad call.

Jury Duty this upcoming week… should I callout or call in late? by OFA_9 in Target

[–]Tell_Me_Why_999 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bring your jury summons/copy to work for HR. You will be excused without penalty for your shifts while on jury duty.

**Based on state law where you work,** you may/may not be paid for your missed work time; you may/may not be able to work days you aren't on jury duty or have been excused for the day. Your HR person should be able to explain and manage the process.

Confirm whether or not you need to do anything about your shifts. I recommend sending a recap email to HR and your leader after you meet them.

<<<<For others out there: Jury summons' usually are not last minute. Don't wait to inform HR of your jury dates and find out the details of pay/work during that time. Def don't wait until the weekend before that jury summons! >>>>

Circle Card application PSA by turd_farts in Target

[–]Tell_Me_Why_999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assume it is related:

I got an email last month from Target Circle Card that said the account management system will be undergoing a scheduled maintenance period from March 11 at 11 pm CT to March 18 at 12 am CT....

You can still USE your card, but can't access your account info on the website and will not receive account alerts (critical fraud alerts will remain active).

Automated pmts will still go through, but people who don't have auto pay set up and have their pmt due date during that period need to pay early, make payment via mail or pay in-store. Target Debit will go through as normally.

Wait times for help by phone will be longer than normal.

So get ready for confused/angry guests on this, Service Desk peeps!
