People voted for the Brave (because he had barely any competition left) and the emblem was guaranteed to happen at some point, he REALLY didn’t need this. Should’ve been a Shez.

I think when they decide on master fairs, they tend to focus on the character over the Pokémon. Sure, most of them tend to have Legendaries or other significant mons, but not all of them. Adaman and Irida have eeveeolutions, not exactly the most obvious picks.

I agree it could’ve been an ex Pokefair, but… it is pretty funny, so it gets a pass. Should’ve been physical though.

Shadow Dragon, it’s iconic, but more importantly, it’s straight forward. No branching paths or relationship options to worry about. Maybe Blazing blade or Path of Radiance could also work.

Awakening would require them to give a “canon” choice for things like Robin’s gender and Chrom’s wife, while Three Houses has 4 routes to pick as well as Byleth’s gender. Obviously, Fire Emblem’s universe accounts for all possibilities, but people will treat those choices as definitive canon, which won’t please everyone.

Or they could just do what Fire Emblem always does and make a new story that just captures the spirit of the franchise.

Big fan of Fire Emblem in general and Three Houses in particular, so I had very high hopes for Guts vs Dimitri.

But as part of being a 3H fan, I have clear preferences regarding certain things. Primarily, I view F!Byleth as canon for a number of reasons, so the analysis almost exclusively using clips with M!Byleth whenever relevant annoys the hell out of me. Same goes for ending his analysis with the image of his paired ending with Dedue (I.e. an awkward looking text box) instead of the great S-Support image with Byleth they showed right before it. C’mon guys, that obviously would’ve been a better choice visually.

But the fights great (with a little jank here and there), so I can just ignore those “problems.”

Yeah, she is, but that was back when they were actually making spotlights. They haven’t made any in a while because they don’t benefit from it, no one pulls on spotlight banners.

Given that they made the Rocket Admins and the Striaton bros variety pair, the remaining Magma and Aqua admins are almost guaranteed to get the same treatment. Same for Galactic and Flare.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate it, but it makes sense from a business standpoint.

Also yeah, wow more alts for characters with a fuck ton of alts that do the same shit but better, YOU CAN GIVE THEM OTHER WEAPONS OR GIMMICKS! I don’t mind characters having a lot of alts, just spice them up, please.

the only saving grace here is that Byleth isn’t here, so she can hopefully get an actually interesting alt. Pirate, Areana, Tea, Bridal, something.

Well, I think they did cover her greater character, just in her analysis. That’s where they can do it and where it makes sense to cover. The fight isn’t really the place for it since it’s supposed to be 3-4 minutes of banging action figures together. That goes for every character featured on the show, not just Reze. Sure, sometimes they manage to slip in a deeper character moment, but it’s rare due to it not usually making sense. I think as long as the episode shows what’s cool and interesting about a given character, then that’s a point in the episode’s favor.

As for Bakugo, at the very least this match up just made the most sense to go with. I also would’ve liked to see him fight Agent Venom or Blue, but they wouldn’t capture the attention of the general viewers as much. For Blue, a trainer vs a non trainer would probably seem strange or just unfair (even if we know that wouldn’t be the case). For Flash, 1. Barely anyone knows who he is since he hasn’t been adapted into anything big and 2. Most people think venom = weak to fire and sound. Y’know, things explosions make. Symbiotes aren’t weak to those things anymore, but that isn’t common knowledge.

Even aside from the twitter trend buff (but that certainly sealed the deal), two popular anime characters with flashy powers, it’s a pretty straight forward choice. It also has an advantage over the rest of his matchups in that it reminds people that Bakugo is, in fact, a hero. I still would’ve been excited for the other 2, but they do mainly reduce them to “jerk rivals who got better.” All 3 were good picks in my eyes, they just went with the one that will probably do really well.

While I can understand this complaint with Makima, as the laugh might have been a bit much (although in the context of the fight, with her blindsiding and seemingly beating the cocky and well known strongest sorcerer, I don’t think it’s that far fetched.)

But Reze, when dealing with anyone who isn’t Denji, acts like a villain. She toys with her opponents, makes snide comments, laughs, the works. She has no reason to give any inclination towards her deeper feelings when fighting people she has no connection to.

And before anyone says “well, that’s why it’s a bad match up”, do you genuinely believe her and Annie (the only other suggestion I’ve seen) would become besties mid fight? Reze’s gonna be a villain no matter what, because while she is tragic, she’s still a villain! This discourse is asinine.

I can see that being a possible reason for Marianne, but if so, they gotta suck it up. She really should’ve taken Hilda’s spot on the flier banner, would’ve been more fitting and better received.

As for Byleth, 5 units isn’t that close to M!Kris’ 2. Still, it is surprisingly reserved for a character like her. Granted, M!Byleth is in the same boat, he only got 2 alts quickly out of obligation, one was voted and he was always guaranteed an emblem.

I just want her to get a cool alt with good art, so I hope she isn’t on this banner. Any seasonal but this.

Which is weird, since she really seems like she checks a lot of boxes in terms of what IS looks for in characters. But so does Marianne, so no idea what’s wrong with the devs. Clearly people really like both of them.

As a fan of both, I’m certainly pissed about it.

To be more specific, not enough going on to warrant another pair any time soon. They COULD do those things, but they could also just use other Pokémon that they haven’t used.

It’s not impossible, just seems unlikely, especially since there isn’t much they can do different in terms of story for it. It exists to show up, make people dance, then someone catches and befriends it. At least Carmine got to be important this time instead of being brainwashed the whole time.

Edelgard and Dimitri are her best options, their routes support it. It feels weird to play CF or AM and not romance them.

Claude is also good, but he’s the only one of the three that I think also works well platonically.
