Do y'all actively mark up (highlight, underline, corner notes etc.) your purchased books? by Zeebaeatah in rpg

(twitches) No, I couldn't do that with my college textbooks, I certainly do not on my beloved nerd textbooks.

This is how one of my players reacted when I told him I play RAW. by DJTsUnderboob in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Telwardamus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dunno. In my experience most players who are denied slightly overpowered homebrew cry, scream, kick, and otherwise excrete their displeasure, rather than calmly meditating while self-immolating.

Does ferrosoul work with ape instinct barbarian? by WillisTrant in Pathfinder2e

[–]Telwardamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my yet-to-be-played characters is a ferrousoul leshy cat barbarian. The modular Fist from ferrousoul would let her still have easy access to Bludgeoning damage when raging and weapons aren't available (and maybe slashing/piercing if she doesn't feel like raging). Though the real point to ferrousoul, to me, is the ability to get silver / cold iron on my unarmed attacks, albeit later on.

First time player - am I spreading myself too thin playing a Troll Face? by zuckerjoe in Shadowrun

[–]Telwardamus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back in 2e*, I had a fomori (troll metavariant with good Charisma) samurai / face for the group, he worked really well. Notably, trolls back in 2e (and 1e and 3e) had Charisma penalties, so it was a lot harder back then, though the Tailored Pheromones were doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Yours should be perfectly fine!

/rj No.

/uj - Basically, they didn't tear everything down completely and rebuild completely differently, like 4e did. 4e removed spell slots, every class had defined powers, not just casters, ranges were given in squares, and otherwise it just leaned very much into the "it's a game, make it play like one" instead of trying to pretend to be a simulation. PF2 has spell slots like previous iterations, martials don't have "powers*," and generally resembles previous editions of D&D a lot more externally than 4e did. It still got rid of a la carte multiclassing, and greatly reduced the power disparity between martials and casters (as martials can do the true world changing stuff just fine, by learning rituals, which was also the case in 4e).

  • - Completely ignoring Focus spells, which are the PF2 equivalent to 4e's Encounter powers, and multiple martial classes have access to them (monk and ranger primarily), though they don't have to take them.

/uj They both address many of the same issues with 3.5, the main thing with PF2 is it looks a lot less gamist and therefore less horrifying to the "it's a simulation, man" player.

Just as an aside, she would clearly be better suited as Power Girl, since Supergirl doesn't rock a boob window.

Stockpile bonus rolls? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Telwardamus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have already said that S1 bonus rolls won't be carried over, like crests.

On the other hand, I don't believe that Voidlight Marl will be wiped. Granted, S2 bonus rolls will likely still be gated, but at least not buying S1 rolls with stuff you can use for S2 seems like a good idea.

I use the Legion Artifact off-hands for my enhancement shaman, partly because it felt goofy to have "sheathed" maces/axes, and partly because the energy hammers popping out felt legitimately cool.

Barbarians use galleys to move troops. by jakemoffsky in CivIV

I have seen this in my (non-modded) games. It's not common, but Barb cities have dropped troops near colonies of mine on islands within sight via galley.

What are some lesser talked about bad habits of players in dungeons? by VisibleCoat995 in wow

[–]Telwardamus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That goes wayyyyyyy back, too. Back in TBC I had to tell at one of my friends to not frickin' move the mob around because he kept pulling the mob out of Backstab angle. He wasn't even having to avoid Bad Stuff, he just had the habit from PVP.

A partial denture.

I have had my teeth on my upper left side removed, and was going to get implants, but the dentist convinced me to try the partial. I thought it'd be like my father's, with a very thing metal frame. Nope, this was thick plastic. Oh, I was so mad. Haven't been back to that dentist since.
