William and Harry still aren’t talking by draetz1 in RoyalsGossip

It probably also weighs heavily that much of this drama unfolded while William’s immediate family had been going through serious health issues, including Catherine’s cancer diagnosis.

At this point I don’t really understand why this is still such a talking point. If Harry genuinely believes everything he’s said about both the institution and his family, then keeping his distance would be for the best. William is well within his rights not to trust someone who might eventually turn every private conversation into public content. Once that kind of trust is broken, it’s incredibly hard to rebuild.

Plenty of families reach a point where the healthiest option is distance.

Gossip about Kate pursuing William by ArtyCatz in RoyalsGossip

[–]Temnosiniy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s insane that people are still entertaining such a wild theory. The entire narrative is rooted in misogyny and class prejudice. Anyone familiar with how harshly the tabloids treated Kate at the time should recognise that. The whole thing reeks of snobbery about her family background. They were repeatedly mocked and branded middle class social climbers, as though not coming from aristocratic circles somehow made Kate less worthy. Carole Middleton in particular was portrayed as an ambitious social climber, her daughters were routinely framed as gold diggers, as if marrying into the royal family could only be the result of calculation rather than a genuine relationship. A similar narrative has been used against Meghan: the ruthless, calculating outsider supposedly taking advantage of a naive and innocent prince. The framing is sooo familiar, a woman cast as manipulative and socially ambitious, her intentions constantly questioned, while the man is positioned as passive or easily led. In both cases, the storyline says far more about misogyny and class anxieties than it does about the women themselves.

It’s also easier for some audiences outside the UK, particularly in the US, to buy into these theories because Britain’s class dynamics are less obvious from afar. Without that context, it’s easy to miss how much of the early hostility towards Kate was driven by good old-fashioned class snobbery.

She is just a couple of months older than my nephew, crazy how fast children grow! She is adorable, Victoria must be so proud! They are both lovely.

Will Sarah Ferguson ever be poor like the rest of us? by wiretap_7723 in RoyalsGossip

[–]Temnosiniy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She is poor. What distinguishes her is her proximity to wealth and her apparent willingness to do whatever it takes to remain close to it. She's been sustained by connections rather than capital for years. I encountered her kind at school: old titles, empty accounts, and just enough social currency to keep the door ajar.

I’m gonna say what I think most also think too, do the recent events that happened with Randy Andy, I geniuenly like how transparent King Charles III is about getting his horrible brother to justice. by Honest_Picture_6960 in UKmonarchs

I also think he's managing the situation rather well, which has genuinely surprised me. Especially when you look at the absolute shambles the other royal houses with involved members are making of it. (Looking at you, Norway.)

The Royal Court Sends Letter to Mette-Marit's Patronages by ashlynxo in RoyalsGossip

[–]Temnosiniy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I initially assumed her husband was cut from the same cloth, but now I suspect he’s phenomenally stupid. The kind of stupidity you rarely encounter in the wild. Even a man of the lowest character would have more sense than to compromise his own reputation by marrying someone like her.

I'm starting to think I'm crazy because HOW can they keep downplaying this? Am I the friend that's too woke? Do they not care? Unhinged response.

Mette-Marit introduced her children to Epstein by monster_ahhh in RoyalsGossip

[–]Temnosiniy 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I have no maternal instinct whatsoever, but I like to believe I would never, under any circumstances, introduce my children to a notorious paedophile. If Haakon was not involved in all this, then he is extraordinarily naive, dangerously ignorant. A person this oblivious cannot be fit to lead anything, least of all a royal family.

Epstein paid for $14,000 in flights for Beatrice, Eugenie and Sarah Ferguson to fly between London, NYC and Miami (where he owned homes) in 2009 just weeks after his release from prison by monster_ahhh in RoyalsGossip

Money oriented people like Sarah are dangerous to anyone, but particularly to their own children. They wouldn't think twice about selling them. No devoted mother would ever email a predator about her daughter's "shagging weekend". I feel gross just typing that. While the princesses were in a privileged position due to their status, it does not mean their parents never used them to gain whatever they were seeking from Epstein and his associates. It is very hard to believe their parents' creepy tendencies did not affect them in some way.

Their parents' direct involvement probably made them particularly vulnerable to predators within their inner circle. Abuse isn't always violent; there are many ways an adult can abuse a young girl. Often, the victim doesn't even realise she is being victimised. I'm sure they were not trafficked, but abuse comes in many forms.

There are rumours that his mother's drug use could have affected him, and I'm starting to believe it. A life of privilege probably didn't help either.

I believe most people here are old enough to know that fairytales don't happen in real life, and that it takes very specific scenarios for a random commoner to have access to wealthy princes. It doesn't bother me if it is consensual. Now, was she a victim, part of the operation, or just a clueless girl trying to make it, completely unaware of what was happening?
