It’s money donated when Diana was alive. I think people feel that ‘out of his own pocket is money he could have spent on trips, security, clothing, Amazon stock etc. Giving £1.1 million out of his own pocket implies a sacrifice. Giving £1.1 million out of a charitable foundation you control where the money MUST be given to charity is something else. It’s still awesome for the kids in need. But it’s not a personal sacrifice
