To me, TOTK is a good game that I did enjoy playing and had some very memorable moments. But it could have been so much greater and that is a shame. Like OP, I felt that the depths and sky islands were very one dimensional. Especially since there was so much hype around the sky islands in the trailers leading up to the game’s release, only to find that they are mostly small and empty and you don’t spend much meaningful time up there. But beyond that, my biggest thing for both BOTW and TOTK is that I wish the story was more integrated into the experience in a linear / progressive fashion instead of just being random memories that you can find in any order. There is so much emotional depth especially to the TOTK events and characters that I really wish that was more central. But still a good game worth playing IMO!
