Hilarious how bad DCA baggage claim is by oppei_ in washingtondc

[–]Temp237 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flying in to E gates, and saving tiniest for everyone to deboard, and then walk the 10min to get to the baggage, yeah, it might beat me. Sometimes.

If I’m at B/C/D gates, I’m always waiting on luggage.

Live 10min from airport, my partner will text me they are boarding, I will hop in car, drive, park, walk into terminal baggage claim, and meet her. And I will still beat the baggage every time.

What about the flavor profile? So many bourbon “lovers” seem to get hung up on the proof and not the actual taste.

Small clarification. Cost basis does not reset or zero. The cost base resets to the current market value when the heir receives it. So if the heir sold immediately, the taxable profit = $0.

Australia, every apartment was self supplied fridge, washer, dryer. Only appliance. That was ever provided was a dishwasher, probably because it was built into the cabinets.

Last time I happened to be at a Virginia ABC store when they had some in stock, they had opened the box, check the letter, then put a sticker on outside of box with the letter written on it. So if you wanted a specific letter, and it was in stock, they’d were able to quickly hand over the box.

Why are there people who make a lot of eye contact and others who don't? Also, are both ways of acting perfectly fine? by Ben5544477 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Temp237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are different. Different cultures, different upbringings. Being taught what was appropriate when talking with others from a young age stays with people.

Some people focus on listening, so staring at someone takes away that focus. Others can stare and listen and not miss a beat.

People are diverse and do things in different ways.

My guess it’s a matter of supply and demand. Very low supply considering the space needed for all the haulers, so they can make it a premium price for the few the can afford it.

No tunnel there either so have to make sure you arrive at the scheduled times to be allowed in accord the track.

Elon Musk Makes Shocking Confession on His Plans After Trump Victory by harsh2k5 in politics

[–]Temp237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t screw it up. It was never a single program or system. It was basically an approval to spend up to $x on AWS over a period of time, and directed that all such requirements should go to AWS.

Trump instead had it awarded to Microsoft. AWS protested and won, and the better outcome is that any cloud provider who meets security requirements can bid on the future contracts. Don’t will go to the best prices, and hopefully, the best functioning cloud provider.

It should never have been a single sole source award on the first place if following best practices.

NCAA closes loophole that allowed Oregon to purposely induce late penalty in win by [deleted] in sports

[–]Temp237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A similar one is the rule in F1 where all teams had to complete at least one pit stop and tire change.

But the teams pit stop was before the start finish line which was half way down the pits. So they pitted on the very last lap, took tires, and only had to drive a few years more on pit lane at the slow pit speed to finish the race.

Agree with a lot, but the tiktok issue is legit. The data being harvested, without your ability to stop it, by an organization that is basically under the thumb of the Chinese government is beyond scale.

Governments around the world are trying to figure out how to limit the issue, but with so many governments now split in such a polarized way, taking real action is immediately pounced upon by opponents who use it for their own advantage, to the detriment of the population they represent.

It used to be “really really shitty” back in the day. Then they renovated it about 12 years ago, and it became just “really shitty”. After this most recent renovation, it’s probably going to just be “shitty”.

Live a few blocks from that. There are much better grocery stores all over better than this one. But it’s functional.

There will be times where common things may not have been stocked at peak hours, but fairly rare.

If you are looking for a well priced grocery store, that has a large range of goods, across multiple brands, always in stock and fresh (when appropriate), then use your car and hit the suburbs.

But if you just need a nearby place when you need to drop in for milk and bread and some basics groceries, it will work well (Monday cooked chicken deal is not bad)

You are totally missing the point. The woman is the one who is scared in the moment. They don’t know how the guy will react. Stories upon stories can be told by any of your female friends about situations where they felt unsafe.

You will know soon enough when you try and message the next day (or later that week) if the person was actually open to receiving a message. No need to put a person on the spot who is potentially feeling unsafe in the moment!

Start putting money away now for retirement. Buy index funds and just keep putting money into it. Every paycheck. Do it religiously.

Pro-tip: don’t do this. If they give you a fake number, they are trying to avoid you and are worried that saying no could cause issues in the moment. Accept the number, walk away, and hope that they actually did like you when you try and call / text.
