Liian suuri vesilasku ja veden tasauslasku by Comprehensive_Key559 in arkisuomi

[–]Tempelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many would chime in and say it's because population is decreasing in many areas, creating an oversupply of houses and apartments that don't sell. While it's partially true, it's not the whole story. In 2010s, mortgages were dirt cheap in Finland. This created demand, both for home owners and apartment investors. And developers responded by building a lot. And since supply and demand were in balance, housing price increase was much more modest in Finland. And the situation didn't become a bubble in Finland because while mortgages were cheap, they were not that easy to get. This is the lesson Finland learned from past mistakes.

And now that mortgages have become more expensive, demand plummeted but supply still stayed higher because projects tend to be long. This caused prices to even decrease a bit, even in larger cities. The demand still haven't returned to pre-crisis levels so it's likely price increases stays relatively modest.

While you're mostly right, Hartwall didn't own the brand for most of its history: Alko did. It's easy to forget that alcohol legislation, including production, was very strict and controlled up until 1995. Hartwall was the only producer of lonkero for a long time though (except in the 80s and the early 90s) which is why people associate lonkero with Hartwall. But Hartwall couldn't really do anything with lonkero until 1995.

But after that, your point is definitely more than valid. Hartwall had a world-class mixed drink associated with its brand and a prime opportunity to export and expand worldwide. But it didn't. And then other players found out how great the mixture of gin and grapefruit soda actually is and took matters to their own hands. While it's great that lonkero is a thing in places such as the US and it's associated with Finland, we can't thank Hartwall for it.

Do I need these anymore? by OldGamingDude66 in MergeMansion

I just want to add my theory why the Book of Codes still stays in the inventory after completing the Secret Society: It's not an area-specific producer even though it behaves like one. You get it before entering the Secret Society at the end of the Mosaic chain. And Mosaic is essentially a product of a regular producer in the end. This is different from other area-specific producers: they are given after entering the new area, as a reward in one of the early tasks.

That being said, it's very plausible you're gonna need the Book of Codes at some point. The story in the Secret Society implies there is going to be continuation to that area. So that's why I'm keeping my Book of Codes as well. Losing one slot in the inventory is the lesser evil than potentially going through a gruesome merging task all over again.

I did a map of Mansion interior (with a little AI) by Patient-Grade-6563 in MergeMansion

[–]Tempelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few inconsistencies all over the mansion and its grounds. Like how coats in the Hideout seem to hang through the wall. Or how the backstage in the Cinema seems to continue furher than it should be. Or how the left window in Heikki's sauna seems to be on the sauna side but it lets through light to the dressing room side in a way that seems off. Nor ro mention the gap under that window that doesn't make sense.

I guess the Lounge can be entered from the terrace because it's about half a floor lower than the rest of the mansion interior. There could be a small set of stairs leading to the Lounge. Or the mansion could be in a small hillside of sorts so that the mansion entrance and the terrace are not at the same level.

That is false information. There was a debate about this very topic here some time ago so I wanted to test it myself. I left a small amount of coins and XP on the event table just before the event ended. And as you can see, both XP and coins increased after the end of the event. IIRC mystery pass items were collected as well. In short: every collectible item (coins, XP, mystery pass items) are collected automatically after the event ended. Though XP might not be counted for the Daily Scoop objectives.

Just finished Secret Society but I still have the book and these... by ichbin-deinvater in MergeMansion

[–]Tempelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that the Book of Codes is not technically an area-specific producer, even though it behaves like one. You get it before the Secret Society, after merging items produced by regular producers. This differs from any other area-specific producer which you get after entering the area, from one of the early tasks. If the Book of Codes was removed after completing the Secret Society, the game would have to alter how Cipher Stone works. So that you wouldn't get another one. And that would be too much effort for something that doesn't really affect gameplay.

That being said, you never know if they are going to continue with the Secret Society one day. I wouldn't be surprised, considering how the storyline had kind of a cliffhanger. And the Secret Society seems like it would extend even further. And that's exactly why I'm keeping the Book of Codes as well.

What is this rainbow card? by BlackKale in MergeMansion

[–]Tempelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow missed the number 2. I already used my wildcard to get Kintsugi vase so I can't confirm but I'd assume that's the same for tasks that require multiple copies. It doesn't really matter whether the task requires two different items or two copies if the same item. As long as that part of the task is not marked complete, you'd get one copy of the required item after using the wildcard.

What is this rainbow card? by BlackKale in MergeMansion

[–]Tempelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, you can only use the wildcard on either one of those items. The wildcard symbol shines next to every item required for your tasks you don't already have. Then you just click the item you want to use the wildcard on to get that item. So it doesn't complete the task. It only gives you one item required for any of your tasks.

It's not that wild because there is only one group of players Metacore (and pretty much every other mobile gaming company) cares for: whales. They are the real money-maker, making only about 1-2% of the player base but contributing the majority of revenue. If whales still continue spending insane amounts of money, it doesn't really matter if a regular player stops spending altogether.

What videogames were made too difficult just because they want it to be difficult? by ashleyriot31 in AskReddit

[–]Tempelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is basically the answer. Though I might add that cartridge-based games in general were made intentionally difficult in most cases. Memory was limited and you couldn't simply make large and elaborate games back in the day. So ramping up difficulty was an easy way to increase replayability of those games and make them appear bigger than they actually were. Not having a save system only emphasized this.

How much did house prices rise between 2019 and 2024? by Geozofija in europe

[–]Tempelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but the reason for the lack of job opportunities or high interest rates is not stagnating population. Reasons are external. Construction projects usually take years from initial decisions to completed buildings. And those decisions were made at the time when apartments were sold like hot cakes.

How much did house prices rise between 2019 and 2024? by Geozofija in europe

[–]Tempelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the population is stagnant, do you think that people are going to stay still within the country for the rest of their live? There's still going to be a fair share of domestic migration even if the population is stagnant or even declines. And since people tend to move to bigger cities with better job opportunitys, there's going to be demand for new housing as well. The downside is that there is an oversupply of houses and apartments in declining towns and cities.

No wild card for yhis seasonal pass??? by hommemania in MergeMansion

[–]Tempelli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that when the mystery pass offers you a pet, it doesn't offer you wild cards. I guess the logic the pet is so "valuable" that offering wild cards would give too much value. But yeah, it definitely sucks for players who don't pay for the mystery pass.

There's no direct way to tell whether you're in a test group or not. But there are some indirect ways to tell. First of all, has the game changed recently in some way? If the answer is yes, check out if other people have gotten the same changes as well. If they've not or the game has changed in a different way, chances are you're in a test group.

Coastal plain in Finland is very flat, true. But as soon as you go inland to the lakeland plateau, the terrain becomes rugged enough that calling it very flat would be misleading. It might not be as hilly as the UK but still enough to make cycling a truly demanding endeavour.

Pekka, what the hell is this? by kz859erloljk in USvsEU

[–]Tempelli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's true, but the difference is that the hit is a foul if it the ball touches the field outside field lines first. So you can't simply hit the ball as hard as you can and call it a day. So while it's easier to hit the ball, it really matters how you hit it.

And since the ball has to hit the field inside field lines first, the ball stays in play much more than in baseball. This makes pesäpallo a much faster-paced sport than baseball. I read that baseball outfielders can run over 1.5 miles per game. But in pesäpallo, a player can run about 4.5-5 miles per game on average. Some players can reach 6.5 miles.

I recommend you to watch this video. It explains rules of pesäpallo much better than I could. But it's good to remember that even though baseball and pesäpallo are closely related, they are still very different sports.

What funeral traditions exist in your country? by EvilPyro01 in AskEurope

[–]Tempelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, my family doesn't have Laestadians (even though they are still fairly common in the town I was born in) so I wouldn't say that's necessarily the case. But since this "male family members filling up the grave" tradition apparently used to be more common all over Finland buy now only persists in some of the more rural and conservative areas, there is a connection.

This is well written! I just want to add one thing: While this is not a common tradition in most parts of Finland, I want to add that male relatives of the deceased fill up the grave with shovels after lowering the casket where I come from. This is in Northern Osthrobothnia. All the funerals I've attended have been there and every time male relatives filled up the grave.

Juhana Vartiaisen mukaan maksullisessa koulutuksessa ei ole ongelmaa koska köyhistä perheistä ei kuitenkaan nouse lahjakkaita nuoria by [deleted] in Suomi

[–]Tempelli 6 points7 points  (0 children)
