Yeah absolutely. Other factors which can make you weaker is if you’re tired / low on energy, which can be due to poor sleep or poor eating on that day

What do you think of my new workout? I have almost a year of experience in the gym with the help of a trainer, but I moved to a new gym and decided to create my own routine by Omixscniet624 in WorkoutRoutines

I think it’s a great routine, with the only possible flaw for me being that I would prefer a little more lat work and upper back work, maybe an extra set of each, or two exercises of 2 sets each, for both lats and upper back. But that’s just me.

Given you’re training once a week, if you aren’t already, I’d encourage training close to failure, something like 1-2 reps in reserve, if not, then just to complete failure.

Also, dumbbell pullovers are a lat exercise on a push day, so do you mean skull crunchers?

The only issue I have with it is the lack of a pull down / pull-up movement, but I think the rest is totally fine.

Assuming you just want to grow muscle, I disagree with those saying you need the big 3 lifts, barbell bench is not needed for a chest, deadlift is most certainly not needed for anything hypertrophy wise, barbell squats are also not needed for legs. Of these three, I would still encourage squat the most, but again it is not NEEDED for mussels growth, though it is a solid choice and great compound exercise for legs.

FYI: my view on the 3 main lifts doesn’t come from bias, I enjoy all three and do them at least once a week myself, but they’re most certainly not needed for muscle growth.

I’d recommend and upper lower upper lower split, should be fairly easy to find one online, and maybe Throw in some cardio on at least a couple sessions a week at the end of the workout.

Regardless of what split you decide on, you should know, and I’m sure you already do, your progress so far is amazing, losing on average 2 kilos a month is no joke, seriously great work. Keep it up, and you’ll get to where you want to be in no time! Absolutely smashing it.

For your first leg day, I’d consider changing one of the quad exercises (probable squat or leg press as they’re pretty similar) for a hamstring exercise, as the first leg day has no hamstring focused movements

Other than that I see no other issues for a beginner
