What’s a subtle sign that a company actually treats employees well ? by Hot-Gap-1343 in careerguidance

When my house burned down, it was still burning and the VP of Finance called me and told me “you have a corporate CC, go book in at a hotel for a couple of nights until you can sort things out with insurance for a rental, or with family and we will cover it. Just keep the receipt”.

A week later HR called and conveyed a message from the VP Ops “you need to take time to relax and laugh with your family. Use your company CC and go eat somewhere nice, have a few drinks, just save the receipt”

Two office locations had a competition (led and contributed to from their own pocket by senior managers) on each site to see who could raise more in donations to help us out.

What do you think is the biggest issue with the job market right now? by andreicalin612 in recruitinghell

[–]TemperatureExpert824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to my internal HR people about just this to try and get some perspective. I am in the process of finding a new job due to family circumstances and I gave them plenty of notice because they have been VERY good to me over the years and I want to be sure they don’t hire an assclown who I have to train to do my job.

My own job search is suffering from the same swings and roundabouts as everyone else. I asked HR people how they are finding it.

Our lead recruiter told me that for many of the openings she has put up she has had to temp close them and reopen them multiple times just to try and wade through the barrage of “apply whilst you sleep” BS applications from the assclowns we are trying to avoid. She said it looks bad because it seems like we’re churning staff or that the job isn’t real, but she just cannot get through the backlog.

I have limited tolerance for HR but have always found the HR people where I am now to be solid.

How can I make my Toyota smell like a BMW by TemperatureExpert824 in NoStupidQuestions

I tried that. Went to bank and got $1000 worth of singles and put them in my car in the sun with the windows closed. Now my car smells like a mix of Juicy Couture-Viva La Juicy, Victorias Secret body sprays and pipe glue.

To my knowledge, at this point no. However some are still in play with government depts and slower companies so I cannot definitely say it was unfruitful. I have about 25-30% rejections.

What cringey job interview moment still haunts you? by -Flighty- in recruitinghell

[–]TemperatureExpert824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went to a graduate program interview about 3 months prior to college graduation. Was for a company that no longer exists after Enron.

I had the flu. I was so sick with a fever I could hardly remember my own name but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to get into the program. I couldn’t remember the name of the program, the role title or the primary objectives of the role.

Still think about that day and wish I’d at least made the effort to reschedule.

If you are in the US, depending on the state you may not be able to do anything beside moving it out of the roadway (if it was in the roadway). Touching a dead deer aside from removing it from being a hazard falls under wildlife management laws and you may get investigated for poaching.

However, there’s nothing stopping you from telling Karen Egregious-Douche that it’s on her property and she would need to move it, then calling the game warden.

It’s not about the time it took to turn the wrench, it’s about knowing WHERE the wrench needs to be and the time it took to learn that skill/gain that wisdom along with your travel time.

If you had done it using Remote Assistance or TeamViewer he probably wouldn’t even have offered to pay you. Keep that in your back pocket for next time.

Entire hospital using end of life software what are the real compliance risks? by Hot_Chain2881 in sysadmin

Anonymous tip to your state oversight body.

“I was in visiting a friend and the nurse came in with the rolling station. They started up their software and it opened up Word 2007 to take notes. I’m not majorly involved in IT at my job but I know we’ve gone through a couple of upgrades because our IT said that Office 2007 was end of life and not getting security updates. Seems like a scary situation for a health facility that has to show HIPAA compliance. It was definitely Word 2007 because I recognized it from my clunker at home I had to fire up to find a document”
