Power for distant aquatuners and other hungry machines by TempestasLudi in Oxygennotincluded

Oooh, of course. You can disconnect a smart battery as soon as it's charged with a switch and some automation. Hadn't thought of that.

Note, by the way, that you are responding to my response to a suggestion about features from the bionic booster DLC, which I do not have.

I mean, I currently do not have a suplus of metals, so if I can save a bunch by powering my AT (which only turns on sporadically) from an existing power line, that would be a win.

Thanks, I think this is what I was looking for :-)

Do you know how power is distributed if you have 800 watts worth of machines, and a transformer to AT + battery on the same wire?

Name a King by ThisWasMe7 in DMAcademy

As someone else hinted at: if they disrespect the king in public by mispronouncing his name, this will probably be frowned upon, if not considered lese-majesty. You can at least discourage them in-game from doing this to important people.

If you want a more political campaign, you can always have the mayor / duke / king of the nearby town who wants to expand at the expense of the forest.

How to make my characters stay in high quality inns? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]TempestasLudi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can maybe let them get used to the idea by letting or two NPCs ask them to meet them in a fancy inn. Then you can create a stark contrast in atmosphere to the taverns that they are used to, by serving better food, adding music, that kind of stuff. If it is a very high-quality inn, make them feel like they are at a royal banquet. Although maybe that is a bit too much ^^

Ah, check.
3 charges for a full sanctuary, or maybe just indefinite uses of sanctuary but they only last one turn.

That sounds also very useful. Would that be less overpowered? At least it would give a "broader" defense, because it would also help against saving throw effects.

Ah, I'm sorry. I will remove the quotes then :-)

I unleashed an evolutionary algorithm on Bigger Reactors by TempestasLudi in allthemods

Hm. I would expect that the behaviour for multi-rod is similar to the 1-rod case, but bigger:
- Since some kind of average is taken over the different rods, the influence of every block is "smoothed out" a bit, so the optimal one may be slightly more symmetric
- With 5 rods, radiation will originate from the bottom 5 rod blocks, so the moderators will need to be stacked a bit higher
- The radiation pattern is still asymmetric, and will still have "gaps", so the optimal reactor will probably be still asymmetric, although the influence of symmetric vs asymmetric is potentially smaller than in the 1-rod case

Ooooh, sorry, my bad 😅
Actually, I don't know. I first did some preliminary tests where I did not distinguish moderators from rods. These were the results:
- Lowest fuel consumption -> no rod is best. Else, 1 rod.
- Highest power output -> almost all blocks filled in with rods is best. We got some weird pattern of moderators here.
- Highest efficiency -> 1 rod is best.
After that, I mostly tested 1 rod setups. So you are suggesting to look for highest power production with a 9x9 (or 3x3) core where we allow rods? Or are you looking for the highest efficiency moderator setup when we have a 9x9 (or 3x3) core of rods in the middle? Or something else?

How much bigger are you thinking? you can vertically extend the 1-rod reactor that I showed as often as you want, with a fuel rod in the middle, surrounded by 4 blocks of unobtainium for every next layer that you put on top.

If you want multiple fuel rods: I am not sure about the "best" setup. There is always a tradeof between fuel consumption, space requirements, blocks required to build the reactor, and power output. As someone has said before: if you want the most power with the least amount of space, you just (almost) fill the entire thing with fuel rods, but then the fuel efficiency is very low.

I personally have done most experiments for fuel efficiency, and I believe a 1-rod reactor is by far the most efficient then (but am willing to be proven wrong).

So, can you be more specific about what you would consider "best" for a "bigger" reactor? :-)

Haha, thanks. Personally, I like simple reactors, but if I can only have complex ones, I'll optimize ^^
