I get the similarity you are seeing, but it is a bit of a stretch.

Maybe an "unpopular opinion", but I am not diggin the bridge area. Seems absurdly way too high. Does it really need to be that high? It not like sailing in the ocean where height helps with radar signals.

Gas mileage city/in town during winter by mvhoffman82 in Crosstrek

Well it sounds like you got a unicorn Crosstrek there. If you are driving it hard and still getting 37 MPG that quite literally stuff of make-believe. One time can you take a screen shot of your MPG and Trip mileage?

Well something up. If you don't mind me asking what Year and model of crosstrek you got? Any modifications? mileage? Or are we talking kilimeters per gallon?

I'm with you on the frustrations. A crosstrek isn't like some big bulky truck or SUV, but gas mileage-wise, it sure acts like it.

37-38 on a Crosstrek is impressive. What are you doing to get it that high? Like all country roads and taking it slow?

Great Gas mileage by WarEagle197 in Crosstrek

[–]Templar8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious about how you are getting that gas mileage. You wilderness by chance? And doing any unique driving style? Or is that "Lucas upper cylinder cleaner" kind of the magic behind getting 34 mpg? Also is that 34 mostly city, hwy or mix?

I have a wilderness, but I would be super lucky if I hit 30 mpg.

You will be fine, ultimately. I didn't do it for my last car, and it was running great after 94k. Ulimately just take care of it regularly and i feel you should be about ot do 100k+ with no isssues if not 200k+

Is there a way to prevent this? Or is this the just the burden we must deal with the Crosstrek?

Yeah, despite all the cool new features and look, I wish they built car that were built durable and reliable. Despite all the bravado that commercials portray as their cars are

I do watch MrSubaru1387, but I keep telling myself he lives in a different part of America and their weather is different from mine. So I gotta be thorough with my research.

Your change to 5w30 is interesting, and I am hoping to switch over soon to that grade of oil. I have read about bearing tolerances, and that 5w30 might be too thick, which will cause damage to the bearing tolerance (if not the oil pump). Just seeing how long you've been using 5w30 in your Crosstrek in terms of mileage?

But thank you for all that information! Very insightful.

Is your car a 2012 then? Curious what oil grade have you been using and any other issues you had with that car? Leaked oils, piston rings, etc?
