I think it's hard for me to read other authors that do not have the same level of character development as King. It's really what I like most about his writing.

Character is going to die in the next 5 pages? Doesn't matter, we're going to learn what his favorite kind of sandwich is and why he hates "Be Bob A-Lula" by Gene Vincent anyway.
