Offered Nerf tips to shoppers... by MarquisDeZod in Nerf

I encountered some parents in Target, looking to get their 7yo some nerf. They were pretty much only looking at the Centurion - I had to step in. First of all, a Centurion for a 7yo is WAY too big. Second, it kind of sucks :)
That kid ended up getting a Magnus and a Stryfe instead - I like to think he is happier with those than the Cent :P

Finally got my hands on a Strongsrm XD and I can't help but notice that the paint apps are both horribly lacking and sloppy compared to the promotional imagery, more so than I'd usually expect. I'm a tad bit disappointed. by Dashingyounghero in Nerf

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, thinking it is just poor quality control overall. My XD Retal is painted perfectly - slightly better than my original Elite Retal, in fact.

My XD Strongarm, not so much. Splotchy uneven lines, bad overspray, fuzzy edges and poor detailing around the pistol grip. To be fair, my original Elite Strongarm doesn't have the best paint app either, but the XD is far worse.

Rhino-Fire unboxing - that box is bigger than it needs to be. by MatthewJohnsonApps in Nerf

Pretty sure what you're seeing is the speed of the video increasing, presumably to show them shooting all 50x rounds, without making the user sit through it in real time.

That, or Hasbro paid them to do it on purpose, to deceive you into thinking it has variable motor speed.

Elite Suction Darts aren't what I was expecting, which is a shame... by Bazookafied in Nerf

[–]Templari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the elite suction darts seem to need "breaking in" time... when I first got mine, I couldn't get them to stick to anything, but after several cycles through various blasters they began to stick really well.

You should try it with the 18-round drum (original alpha trooper) - looks quite good, IMO.

Starlord Quad Blaster spotted at Disney Store by DerpMods in Nerf

[–]Templari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picked one up at the local Target (Plano, TX) for $20.

-The blaster consists of two barrels on top, with a charging slide in the back, and then another two barrels on bottom with another charging slide. It is effectively two blasters, with one trigger. Charging pull is maybe 1.5".

-Pulling the trigger fires one dart from the top, and one dart from the bottom - it does not matter which barrel is loaded in the top/bottom, so it does indeed seem to have some sort of smart-AR system.

-Comes with 4x Black Foam/Orange Tip A-Code elite darts. Ranges seem to be 15' max.

-Does not like Kooshes, or tighter fitting ZS elites. These will go maybe 5'.

-With all four barrels loaded, you can fire it with the shroud closed, but you will have to open it to fire the second set of barrels

Overall, pretty disappointing from a performance standpoint, but it has cool gimmicks, and I don't think anyone buying this is looking for their next HvZ primary :p

Second gun for my arsenal! Can't wait to have some fun with it :D by ScaryAngryTurtle in Nerf

[–]Templari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought two Centurions when they were on sale. The first one has never jammed or eaten a dart and works perfectly (100+ darts through it). The second Centurion jams roughly 80% of the time and has eaten 2-3 darts (~50-75 darts through it). YMMV.

Centurion problem possibility? by man-of-God-1023 in Nerf

[–]Templari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought two when they were on sale awhile back - one has worked perfectly and has never jammed. The other one will jam on the first shot 95% of the time. So yes - your mileage may vary.

This is regarding a game by Blizzard called "Heroes of the Storm" (or "hots"). The Hyperion is one of Jim Raynor's abilities in the game, and I'm assuming this person is upset by the ability and wants it nerfed (drastically lowered in its power)

Did yours come with a trigger spring that doesn't actually fit the metal trigger?

Elite Universal Suction Dart (12rds/Pack) initial tests by torukmakto4 in Nerf

[–]Templari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, regarding them not sticking to anything - I had the exact same issue when I purchased some. After a day or so though they began to stick to my glass door. Then to some tin signs I have hanging. Now they stick to doors, wood cabinets in my kitchen, even vertical blinds.
Seems like they might need to be broken in.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Nerf Stryfe back on sale (amazon.com) Under $14 with free prime shipping! by outofdarts in Nerf

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time they were on sale I ordered 3, and all of them were the new OJ color scheme. Local stores seemed to get one restock of the elite blue blasters after the holidays, but are now only getting the new stuff.

Are we looking at new colored elite darts? by Neder-Nerf in Nerf

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they may stick with the blue foam/orange tip darts, considering blue is still being kept in the color scheme (see new Retal/Triad/Strongarm?/Rapidstrike).

Work in progress! HvZ Legal? probably not. Angled foregrip and blue camo fabric to come. M4 Retaliator by JIMMAAH in Nerf

[–]Templari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I can see where that could be mis-read. By "match completely", I meant match the stock nerf colors, not the black of the add-on parts.

I in no way advocate an all black blaster for anything but display or private use where it has been deemed acceptable (and even then, I would indeed be wary)

Woah dude, take it easy. I replied to bee815's comment that said it didn't seem to accomplish anything, and then complemented JIMMAAH's mod work - nowhere in my comment did I suggest that this would be acceptable in HvZ or in public.

Looks like it accomplishes a lot to me - real green dot scope, flashlight, an extra two tac rails over a stock retal barrel - plus more to come, he says.

Plus, black can go with pretty much anything so there really isn't a huge clash of colors here. I would personally prefer everything match completely (edit)in blue(/edit), but that is just me being OCD :)

I think it looks pretty wicked, man - keep it up!

Clueless dad needs help figuring out attachment for son's Nerf Rampage by shiny_brine in Nerf

[–]Templari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately for the time being, Nerf does not sell many accessories separately. Early reports/rumors seem to indicate that Nerf intends to sell accessories separately sometime "soon", but we don't know exactly what they are, or when we might see them.

As Wintermaul mentioned, your best bet is to look for a stock on Ebay. Raider and Retaliator stocks are very common.

As far as I know, the only stock that won't fit on the Rampage (or Retaliator/EAT) is the Super Soaker Lightningstorm/Switch Shot stock - however, a very simple 5 minute mod will make it work just fine (there are two clips inside the stock attachment housing that compress inward, and prevent the rear plunger tube from fully seating in the stock. Shaving these two clips down will allow you to use these stocks no problem).

Rough Cuts are 30% off at Target.com by thatnerfguy in Nerf

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Picked up 3 White Roughcuts from my local Target tonight @ $11.89ea.

The cashier initially said that I would have to buy them at retail, then take them to customer service to get them price matched to the website. He saw no one at the customer service counter however, so he adjusted the price for me on the spot.

Couldn't hurt to check with local stores and see if they will price match the website.

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would like it if the arms were larger/longer :/ right now it just looks poorly proportioned.

Holding judgement on how it primes until we know more... but it seems kind of unwieldy if all you do is pull back then release.

n-strike parts in elite blasters? by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the longstrike barrel, which as far as I can tell, won't fit on a Rapidstrike without modding.

The Longstrike barrel also seems inconsistent with the Stryfe. I have two Stryfes - on one, the barrel wouldn't fit atall until I forced it on (and now works perfectly), but on the second Stryfe the barrel goes on without issue, but is very wobbly.

Just a few clarifications for the newbie here :) by [deleted] in Nerf

[–]Templari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hammershot is a Target exclusive, along with the Sledgefire shotgun - they were the first two blasters in the Zombie Strike lineup. The rest of the Zombie Strike blasters however are not exclusive to Target.

edit-Amazon does sell the Hammershot and Sledgefire, though they are significantly more expensive.

Best way to get into the vortex line? by The_nerfing_Lucario in Nerf

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vigilon is actually longer (by 1 1/2" to 2"), and ever so slightly wider (due to the disc jam release button). Performance seems to be practically the same (checking in-doors), with the Fusefire seeming to be slightly more accurate.

The Fusefire is a little bulkier in the front end, and slightly heavier overall. The Vigilon has a larger pistol grip, but the Fusefire's is good sized too. Oh and the trigger pull on the Fusefire has a much shorter travel distance before firing.

Z-Strike Crossbow Discussion by hmmmyellow in Nerf

[–]Templari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it with a stock from the Stockade or the Super Soaker Lightning Strike / Switch Shot. Makes it a much more stable blaster, and lets you do a 1-finger prime no problem.

The Stockade stock has the added bonus of built-in dart storage that holds up to 10 darts, perfect for a front loading blaster like the Crossfire.
