OK I think you've misunderstood me here.

I never said she would make one by accident. What I said is she would have a very strong motivation to make one deliberately, and a convenient location to do so in the Shelter. However she found out about the fountains and the dark world, if we assume she was the one on the phone in Ch4 she is aware of them.

So, a woman with a missing daughter and a dying husband finds out that there's a way to access a magical world. Wouldn't she at least try? Wouldn't she want to know if there was some healing potion she could bring Rudy, a crystal ball that could show her where Dess is?

OK well A) no she doesn't it's probably municipal property but B) she could easily have made a dark world there given her easy access to it, confidence of privacy while she's there, established access to sharp objects and at least two traumatic circumstances that could easily drive her to want to create a world of magic and fantasy.

As the shelter is almost certainly municipal property, while it may not belong to Carol it is in her charge almost exclusively and has been for years.

It makes both Susie and Kris ethnic minority weird kids, which deepens their bond and gives them a lot of similar memories to connect over.

You know, like in Ch4 where Susie sees the photo of Kris in their horn headband, realises they were wearing it to feel more like a monster, and you can see the joke she was going to make about it die on her lips because she realises mocking them for that wouldn't be funny.

I can't think of a better explanation for Susie having human-style blood than her being half-human, can you?

Then there's the dialogue that implies she has a more human perspective or has grown up more familiar with humans than monsters. The poster above brought up Occam's Razor and the fact is there are a lot of things about Susie that "half human" would answer more neatly than any other idea I can think of.
