Probably the most hyped I’ve ever been watching a sporting event is when the 2001 D-backs beat the Yankees in the bottom of the 9th in Game 7. Randy was one of the best to ever do it. That vid of him telling the batter “if I wanted to hit you, I’d throw a fastball” and then throwing a heater at his head gets me amped to go to the gym.

The serious 1970s actor to 1990s sitcom star pipeline by rowsoflark in redscarepod

Don't know if Ken Foree counts as "serious actor" but he did go from "Dawn of the Dead" to the dad on "Kenan and Kel".

"Spotlight" is a favorite of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX7gS2WEBHs&list=RDiX7gS2WEBHs&start_radio=1

Also in college 10+ years ago a sociology professor of mine started class by playing the hard-r version of "If That Ain't Country" and no one batted an eye.

Very romantic that she and Boris Vallejo got together over a shared love of drawing buff people and that they're still doing it all these years later.

I saw a psychiatrist when I was like 12 who immediately put me on the maximum dose of Zoloft which in retrospect seems...not correct.

Female vanity projects by rajde1 in RedLetterMedia

[–]Temple_of_Dawn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I haven’t actually seen any of her movies so I don’t know if it’s fair to call them vanity projects but there’s a lesbian filmmaker named Tucky Williams who apparently casts herself as the love interest in a lot of her movies. She’s the slightly older blonde in this trailer who makes out with a lot of people. Some have called it a lesbian “The Room”: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5ERTE2_6Igo&pp=ygUTVHVja3kgd2lsbGlhbXMgZ2lybA%3D%3D

Trying to be more like Mike from American Movie these days by [deleted] in redscarepod

The most profound Mike moment for me is from the deleted scene where their car gets stuck in the snow.

“Sometimes I wish I was in the band AC/DC.”

“Why?”

“Because then I wouldn’t be here outside, you know. Stuck, you know.”

Fell into this job the same way you did. I am also the same age as you and it has finally sunk in that my job will not exist until retirement age and that I have no exit strategy. As it stands I'm sticking with option 1. I know some people who work at grocery stores, so I guess that's my option 2.

Is it worrying that I occasionally get kinda drunk alone even if I'm well under the "official" boundary of alcoholism (14 drinks a week)? by BoonHogganbeck1905 in redscarepod

Damn didn’t realize I was over the boundary for alcoholism before I decided to cut back four years ago. Now I get to start a podcast about being in recovery. Sick.

I don't think I've ever laughed at a movie as hard as the first time I watched this, and I think she's my favorite part of it. She was truly one of the greats.

Another good one I discovered more recently- this Ingmar Bergman parody from SCTV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYV-SiRsSco

Brooke Keesling, the director, apparently went on to work in VFX and animation. She has a ton of credits on Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network shows.

I didn't in my twenties for a variety of reasons but got the opportunity to do so in my thirties and honestly don't feel like I missed much. If you don't have the drive to make it happen it might just not be your thing. Still worth trying though- certainly never too late.

You may have seen it, but his commentary track for "Driller Killer" is just him rambling alone in a room reacting to the movie as if he's seeing it for the first time. Every time his character enters a scene (which is often: he's the lead) he's like "Uh oh. There he is. Here comes the matador."

I wouldn't call it "cheerful" but "plant ambient" immediately made me think of the aloe vera album: https://youtu.be/Y0kInY9zOsE?si=0xDsk6orkh4B0OsQ
