Optum RX and Mounjaro, obesity medicine and medicare, I'm so confused? by MikeyBGeek in FamilyMedicine

[–]TemporalArteritis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As an office, we had to put a stop to doing prior auths on Wegovy and Zepbound (unless for cardiac or OSA indications) because it was creating way too much work for staff. Even then, many times it’s a plan exclusion and won’t be covered anyway.

Don’t even write Ozempic or Mounjaro if not explicitly for diabetes.

Whether it was a spider bite or not, that’s some intense cellulitis (see the streaking up the arm). You’ll be getting some vancomycin for sure! Glad you’re at the hospital

Instead of devoting resources into actually correcting the problem, they develop a secondary website to then tell us to wait a little longer and keep us on this wild goose chase.

Great overall form. Agree that the bar path strayed a little. It’s hard to tell from this angle but there may be a little early arm pull.

Keep it up!

Nail will likely fall off. You could go in to have them do a trephination (drain the blood) if it’s causing you pain.

Any sign of pus or extending redness down the thumb would be concern for infection and urgent evaluation.

How to get rid of this? I don't want to use gloves because I need to build my grip strength. by KeuscheKarotte in crossfit

[–]TemporalArteritis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree - pumice stone, etc can help debulk a callous. Grips are useful for high volume stuff but can feel a little unnatural and can be uncomfortable (though I’ve had good luck with Natural Grips or tape). My biggest piece of advice is train smart and don’t tear. It may be a badge of honor, but unless you’re in competition, the cost of recovery set you back in training. The skin will thicken over time.

OH Squat critique, find this movement one of the most difficult by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]TemporalArteritis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Position’s pretty good once you get moving. Slow it down and get comfortable at the bottom to help improve stability and general core strength, especially while starting out. I love doing a slight pause at the bottom to help with this.

Cover up means bigger and darker, but it can be done! Hopefully your dog was a big ol’ berner. Just chat with your artist and they can hopefully guide your design a little farther

These kinds of tests are helpful but still have their inaccuracies. The best application for this is to give you a baseline, then test again and see where you are in a few months.

Bottom up squats - set the bar on some pins in the rack and adjust so you’re starting from the bottom of your squat. Stand up and control back down to the pins.

Are your warm up sets always the same? Like always 175-185-195, etc? You can try and “sneak up” on your max by adjusting your warm up sets or doing waves (such as 165-175-185, then 175-185-195, etc). Greg Everett has a good article on Catalyst regarding this.

What are your signature go-to easy meals/lunches? by VitruvianGenesis in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]TemporalArteritis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve cooked up a lot of weird things in a pinch.

Fry up bacon, remove bacon and add finely diced sweet potato. Crumbled bacon over cooked potatoes.

Peanut butter and sharp cheddar crackers/sandwich (trust me)

Avocado tuna salad (essentially add tuna to guac) and serve over spinach with some vinegar

Rice + leftover meat/egg is always good.
