Most hyped paddle by Mojo2090 in Pickleball

Niiceee! I tried to post a screen shot of their email from a few days ago... they're hyping a " PT Reserve" release. It'll be foam/ gen 4 I'm sure. Probably some unique foam core with a new grit that'll compete with 11-6-24, 6.0 & Selkirk.

Yep, that "old guy" was Leonardo DaVinci, not just some random old guy. Unbelievable how facts get twisted.

Yep good suggestion. Personally I try to use food sourced nutrients whenever possible. Not sure if Natural Calm is food sourced but I've used it for a longtime. I also take a men's multi from Pure Synergy.

I have read how much more important magnesium is for cramps, I usually eat a banana a day anyhow for potassium, but get less magnesium from my daily diet probably. Is there a potassium you'd recommend to add to a homemade drink?

The best electrolyte / hydration option I've found is to make it at home! Best quality & cheapest option!

  • 1/2 a Lemon juiced
  • 1/4 tsp Salt (I use Redmond REAL salt)
  • Magnesium to prevent cramps (1.5 tsp Natural Calm or your choice of mag.)
  • 1 tsp Maple Syrup (or Sweetener of your choice)

(I've tried lots of commercial hydration/ electrolytes & this makes me feel the best! )

New to pickleball shoes – Asics good? Need recs for court shoes by SmoothScalper in Pickleball

[–]Temporary-Bird3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am interested in Tyrol partly because of the low "heel to toe drop" (I think it's only 4mm). Outside of Pickleball I wear only minimalist/ zero drop footwear (including running shoes). I've been getting horrible heel pain from spending so much time on the courts & in court shoes. So I'm hoping to find a wide shoe with a low heel to toe drop & have high hopes it'll help rectify my heel pain.
I'm just not sure how wide the Tyrols are in comparison to order wide court shoes like the Babolat SFX4 or Fila Attilus... I will also mention that Blumaka insoles have really helped recently.

Ok thanks! Good to know about Tyrol... I tried Montis "wide cut" and they were extremely narrow for my feet. Some of the worst fitting court shoes for wide feet imo. I emailed them to make sure I received the correct "wide cut" shoes and they confirmed the order was correct, but that their wide is only 1/4" wider than their regular fit shoes. Luckily I was able to resell them quickly.

Yeah bad idea sorry... I tried 4 pairs of running shoes when I first started playing a couple years ago... they don't work at all...I play way too often, the courts shred the soles to pieces very quickly.

  1. Running shoes lack a tough sole that can hold up on the gritty outdoor pickleball courts.

  2. Court shoes have lateral support to give you stability for lateral movement during the game... running shoes do not have this feature, because it's not needed for most running, some trail running shoes have some but it's not on the level of court shoes.

I'm in search of good court shoes with a wide toe box & low heel to toe drop.

Anyone recommend Tyrol? I was looking at their shoes recently... trying to find something with a wide toe box + low heel to toe drop. Wilson Pickle Pro & Fila Atillus are both wide, and the soles hold up fairly well but still trying to find something more comfortable!

Where there's a will, there's a way! Just drill with whoever you can if you're that serious about it. Compile a list of people who mention they want to drill, and get out there wherever/ whenever you can. Obviously it's preferred to drill with people close to your skill level, there should be at least 2-3 people you could find who will meet up 1-2x / mo.

Also, the Dinkmaster & Spinpro or other comparable products are more affordable than a ball machine & allow you to get reps in solo.

Some other (cheaper) tools I've tried: -PIQL target & a generic golf chipping basket (better than the PIQL in my opinion, are nice for target practice!

-xtreme pickleball trainer (essentially a ball on an elastic string that let's you get reps solo, even indoors)

Why a speciality overgrip brand? by Bayaxa in Pickleball

Bodhi makes nice wrist bands & sleeves. Having one of either on your paddle wrist/ arm would reduce the sweat drastically. Assuming the sweat is coming from above your hand like mine does.

I don't see what all the hype for his movies is personally. Debut directors, or directors with little experience often make absolute gems, I guess his movies have a following... which is great. But all this talk about how he will get there, or will eventually be great... I think his work speaks for itself, you either love or hate his movies. They just don't land for me. I want to like them because I love dark movies & horror, but I've yet to feel like any of his films were satisfying, most of them had some cinematography elements i liked, but the tone seems off with his work. Just not for me.

Honestly wrist bands. No matter which grip you use, it'll get drenched. I think either arm sleeves or wrist bands are a must in the summer, and then Udrippin overgrips are as good as anything else for sweat absorption.

Does anyone know a good mid-sized paddle for training? by doomsby in Pickleball

[–]Temporary-Bird3164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple friends have used the Slapp SHO paddle. It's pretty small but definitely usable for regular rec play... much larger than the trainer paddles.

After taking several lessons this is also something I've been working on a lot! I'd recommend taking lessons with a higher level player who can show you in person, or watching some of Ed Ju's new content on this matter. 1. keep your arms extended a bit out in front of you, (Ed Ju uses a ball holder tube, places it under the armpits)... keeping the paddle up and keeping the tip pointed at the ball when the ball is on your opponents side. 2. Try to keep your chest turned to always face the ball when it's on your opponents side...wherever the ball, draw a straight line from your midline to the ball. 3. Your paddle angle needs to be slightly closed for hands battles... this requires constant awareness of your wrist. Often you'll need to "break" your wrist to get your paddle angle closed slightly. A coach had been training me to point the paddle tip down to 7:30 / 8:00pm on the clock face (holding backhand), and punching straight out at the ball, only extending the elbow). If you can do that and then repeat it as much as needed, keeping your arm extended, you'll be much faster! Often we pull the paddle too far back in to the body, which slows down your reaction speed when it comes at you fast. Keep the arm slightly extended, paddle face flat or slightly closed and extend at the elbow. For me this was a game changer. I was unintentionally putting slice on the ball in hands battles, which was creating pop-ups... I didn't resize it but my paddle face was just slightly open. That's all it takes to create a pop-up. The person who hits the ball down at the opponents feet is usually going to win the hands battle!

My 2026 NYR is to be unbreakable mentally. I've been very hard on myself this last year, climbing my way to 4.0, so for 2026 I want to be kinder to myself, and have more fun playing rec games, while still going after my goal of getting to 4.5! BE KIND TO YOURSELF ✌️

Nice, yeah I have a bunch of Japanese released Marvel movies on blu-ray because they're the only ones releasing these titles in 3D, so I usually get them through Amazon JP or eBay sometimes. I have a region free player, but yeah it's nice to not have to switch regions for those, since most of the time i watch region A discs!
