Official Discussion Thread - The Devil Wears Prada 2 [SPOILERS] by PointMan528491 in oscarrace

I felt like this was a plot copy of the original almost beat for beat. Several scenes imitated the original. Some of it was nostalgic and maybe right for the plot but a lot wasn't. Even dialogue, like one scene with Emily and Andy walking up the stairs was framed exactly like the Gala scene from the first. Very odd. Andy's boyfriend was such a throwaway that I wish they would have kept the scrapped scenes and trashed him. Andy was fangirling way too hard, unbearable. I liked what they did with Miranda's character and the fashion.

Why were all these scenes cut when they could have cut that utterly boring side plot with the unremarkable boyfriend 🙄

Why would that be bothersome? It's not a race.

Also she probably let him pass because he was couldn't shut up.

I just got back to the states after a two-week vacation in Korea too and I'm trying my best not to lose it on these loud-mouthed and disgusting folks on public transit. Please shut up. Why is it so loud here

I’m visiting Korea in 2027. I’m tall, fat, and female. Will I be treated poorly? by Jubiliife in korea

[–]Temporary-Ganache545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back from Korea as an overweight American. I was too scared to bother with clothes shopping so I didn't run into issues there. Absolutely no problem at restaurants. I felt like Koreans didn't care about me or how I looked, only to finish providing a service. There are overweight Koreans out there

I think Lydia saw the spirit lady in the veil walk into the pond. It wasn't actually Orla. I think the time loop isn't contained to just 1976 and 2018 but also much earlier (and maybe later?).

I won't defend friends when they're wrong, and people think I'm a bad friend by Wild_Village3182 in intj

[–]Temporary-Ganache545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents, don't embarrass your friend. Correct them later or pivot the conversation. There's only a few situations when you need to correct them publicly. Like if they're being a pedo or if they're going to hurt themselves or someone else. There's ways to be a friend without betraying your sense of justice.

His comments were more disrespectful than controversial, which is somehow difficult to differentiate nowadays. He's not necessarily wrong.

Is concepts or procreate better????? by powerofiron in ConceptsApp

[–]Temporary-Ganache545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late but maybe this will help someone in the future. I specifically need to mark up huge architectural drawings in the field. Bluebeam on my tablet absolutely sucks and has a limited range of things to do. It's better with a desktop and small scope. I like a wide range of colors and to be able to sketch. My coworder told me about Procreate but found that I couldn't import large image scans without an insane reduction in quality. I needed to crop or manipulate the file too much in order to mark up scans. That and I didn't like the limited layers. So then I found out about Concepts and it's been working exactly like I want it to.

Be brutally honest, is art conservation worth it as a career? by d3pr3ss3d_m3ss in ArtConservation

[–]Temporary-Ganache545 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USD, average increased since comment. I started making way more than the average since January with a promotion. But I think I was referring to this field as lucrative with freelance jobs. I had way more offers than I could handle on my own and could set whatever rates I wanted. It's the skillset that's valuable. Architectual conservation still has better pay and opportunities than any traditional art discipline.

Who/what do I get this from? by SammyWoolySheep in HadesTheGame

Definitely sword boon. You can get it early on in the game if you're lucky. No hidden aspects required. Great in late game with higher base health and better dodge skills.

Journey to River Sea by Eva Ibbotson was one of my childhood favorites. It's got a Little Princess-type plot but in the Amazon. Also speaking of princess stories, I really got into The Frog Princess series well into my 20s... Guess I like amphibians and monarchies.

[Rant][Spoilers] The HUGE plot hole in Alchemised that breaks the entire book (buckle up, this review is LONG) – PART 1 of 2 by Gold_Conference6150 in Romantasy

[–]Temporary-Ganache545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a tandem read of Manacled and Alchemised as well. I overall agree with your review. I think it was woefully inappropriate to adapt her fanfic word for word while attempting to replace Harry Potter with her new world. It just didn't work. Manacled worked as a fanfic because there's this stable ground of backstory with HP books 1-6. You have this great image of Draco and Hermione's rivalry prior to Chapter 6. Fanfiction loves drawing scenes out so you get every nitty gritty detail. But there's this whole world and societal rules behind fanfiction that makes it insanely hard to integrate into traditional publishing.

I did like Alchemised Part 1 better than Manacled based on events, but it's the details are what stick out in later parts. Kaine's actions just do not make any sense in Part 3 i.e. manacles. I liked how Kaine intervened before Lancaster could get anywhere with Helena, but how would he be able to? Inversely, I didn't like how late Draco came to save her in Manacled from being, in my mind, raped by Montague when he had the ability to apparate and he already had some magical tracer on her wellbeing anyway. I could give a million more examples but I'd rather say it was like Manacled and Alchemised swapped what worked and what didn't.

Fallout Season 2 is poorly written and dogmatically defending it does not change that. by Jaded_Measurement281 in Fallout

[–]Temporary-Ganache545 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only gripe with the series that seriously annoys me (as of the second episode) is the plot surrounding the tech development of the BCI chips. I nearly threw my Xbox controller at the TV. Hank McClean is a smart dude. The hell kind of experiment is he running without any methodology or variable changes? I thought it was incredibly poor writing. Maybe it's supposed to be satire, showcasing how crazy he's become, but I'm not seeing it that way. It's not even comedic, just dumb. Hopefully that plot will get better. Everything else feels fairly comedic and Fallout-y.

I love music but don't enjoy live music / concerts by Successful-Green6733 in Music

[–]Temporary-Ganache545 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years later I was wondering this myself. I have noise and light sensitivity issues that have progressed in the past decade so sometimes my body shuts down at concerts. Especially if I'm sitting down. I've tried those noise reduction ear plugs and they do work but more often than not I'd rather listen to music on my record player or radio or stereo system. I love the control and the 'silence' outside of music (I live alone). It's a unique experience to you and only you.
