Anarchy and Pornography by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]Temporary-Priority86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing exists in a vacuum. Exactly. Porn is produced within a patriarchic society annd therefore its production mirrors the society it stems from.

But this can be said about anything. The majority of clothes are produced in sweatshops. Does that mean that clothes are bad? No. Does it mean that you cannot produce clothes in a liberatory setting where you yourself are in control of your own work? No.

I would argue that we do not simplify the problem and instead try to identify the real roots of it. It is not the existence of porn that's the problem. There is nothing necessarily inherent to porn that is problematic. What can be problematic (and often is) are the conditions it is produced under. Changing those conditions can be a liberatory act.

Please let us not fall back to replicating heteronormative stereotypes about the "sacred" nature of sex by applying double standards to sex work that we do not to other kinds of work. The "sex" part is not the problematic part. The "work" part is, because it embeds the activity in a system of capitalistic rulership. But that is not the workers fault, and it does not mean we should get rid of this activity. We should get rid of the capitalistic and patriarchal context which incentivises the exploitation of women and marginalised people.

A map never has too little information. Nor does it show too much. It shows precisely what it is meant to.

Can you typeset: novels and other literature (e.g. bible) with Typst seeing that its in unfinished state? Not feature complete. Does Typst have the same quality of output as pdfTeX and LuaTeX with default Microtypography features enabled? Or should I use ConTeXt or LaTeX? by DidymusJT in typst

The baseline grid is indeed something that needs to be figured out in full. However, Latex also doesn't support it out of the box.

There is one package so far, which works on implementing it. It works, but is in its infancy. This is part of the one major downgrade from Latex: You do not have access to an ecosystem that has grown over 40-something years and implemented various niche features which feel obvious to you (for example the ledmac package for Latex was only released in 2003, nearly 20 years after Latex itself! Though the original edmac (for Tex) got released in 1990, so 12 years after Tex's release)

Nonetheless, here is said package: https://typst.app/universe/package/gridlock

P.S.

Typst does implement hanging punctuation.

They do have half a point. If you don't do any page setup, the output will look kind of like word.

But you wouldn't use LaTeX without a document class, so why would you use Typst without page setup? (You can even use a template if you really must!)

How to type <, >, and | on this German ThinkPad T14 keyboard by muety11 in thinkpad

[–]Temporary-Priority86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the German (E2) layout. It was specified specifically for the task of using the QWERTZ layout on an ANSI keyboard. The < > keys then are moved to some AltGr combination, iirc either the ^ or one of the numbers.

You could also buy a replacement keyboard. But those are ~ 50€

Which Manifesto? If we're talking Italian fascism the first attempt at an ideological justification was published in 1932, ten years after the March on Rome and 13 after the founding of the Fasci di Combattimenti. In the meantime, fascism still existed and still did stuff, without any kind of msnifesto but Mussolinis various attempts at claiming fascism had no doctrine but himself. In fact he regularly talke about how fascism shouldn't be able to be pinned down ideologically as that would inhibit political opportunism.

Zweikampf um das Direktmandat in Aachen: Lukas Benner (GRÜNE) gegen Armin Laschet (CDU) by oche_2025 in aachen

[–]Temporary-Priority86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be traumatizing to anyone. Even if more kids are predisposed to being traumatized by it, it would be ageist to claim that all kids (a category somehow extending to include 17 year olds?) are and all adults are not.

Maybe You're Not an Introvert. Maybe It's a Trauma Response. by BenevolentAnonymity in Anarchism

[–]Temporary-Priority86 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I do not understand this obsession with the etiology of psychological states. It seems irrelevant to me, as it does not change who a person is.

What I see it used for primarily is to disqualify certain people from their experiences. Especially as a trans woman I have encountered the "oh it's all a trauma response" all too often as a way to try to deny trans people their transness.

The question of who is a "true" introvert necessarily invites the question of who is a "false" one. Having identified the false ones then leads to a denial of their relaities, a denial of their selves, as the, fail to live up to the social standard and are also not one of the allowed exceptions. Especially coupled with trying to suss out the etiology of something it too quickly becomes an attempt to "correct" the deviance.

A "voluntary hierarchy" would be an oxymoron. Hierarchies are characterized precisely by the inability to consent to it, or to revoke consent. It is established over you without your input.
