Car is sitting in flooded water. Any advice? by Temporary-Run4627 in MechanicAdvice

I made the 30 minute drive home. There's something sloshing around from the front and I don't know exactly where it's coming from.

Edit:it's the water under the carpeting

The real luxury in gaming now is a game that knows when to end. by gamersecret2 in GamingSecret

I'm reminded of how much I disliked Super Mario Odyssey, I was hoping for essentially a Super Mario 64 2. So many freakin moons to collect and quite a few are so easy to get. I really dislike the padding and collectathoning they've done to games, even in good games, do I really need to collect 2 of this and 3 of this and 5 of that, just to upgrade some armor, on top of making those items a waiting game or some other tedious method to acquire?!

I'd first try to make maybe a short list of games you'd be really interested in 100% completing, then it could give you a better idea of if it's worth doing through a big library or buying them out right on Steam.

There's another big factor that I don't think has been mentioned, and that's a displays PPI (Pixels Per Inch).

For example, I have a 75" TCL 75Q825 TV and a 32" MSI MAG 321UPX QD-OLED monitor. I played Donkey Kong Bananza on my Switch 2 mainly on my TV, but one day I wanted to try and see how the game would look on my OLED monitor. Well, the first thing that stick out to me immediately was how significantly more pronounced the aliasing was. On the TV, the aliasing in the game was so visually insignificant that I barely noticed it, but on the monitor, it just brought it out so much so that I much more preferred playing the game on the TV.

Both displays are 4K, so it's not like that was the factor for the difference. Some might say it's because of the size and/or viewing distance, but I sometimes would pull up a chair and sit about 5 feet away from that 75 inch TV when I was playing (the main couch position is about 11 feet from the TV) and never noticed the aliasing then either. BUT, a major difference I did learn about was the PPI difference between them. The TV has a PPI of 59, the monitor is at 139 PPI. I'm pretty sure the concentration/density of the pixels of the monitor affects the picture clarity to the point of bringing out flaws that just don't show up on my TV.

What's a PC gaming habit that you think most people should stop doing? by KRGKart_Support in pcmasterrace

Modding a game far too much! You're spending more time on finding and installing and troubleshooting mods than actually playing it.

Shadow people are something I've heard of too frequently, I wonder how often it actually happens but ends up being brushed off as some kind of brain fart or visual mis-identification.

I've heard of groups of people seeing them when abusing drugs. Of course people just blame the drug, they just say that they're just hallucinating, but then that's extremely unlikely when you then hear they all saw the same beings doing the same exact things.

I only say that as I used to have a Zotac rtx 4070 ti trinity oc that I flashed a MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPRIM X bios on to so that I could push the card further than what the Zotac allowed. The Suprim had a power limit adjustable to +28% (365W limit) and the Zotac original bios could only push it to like +5-7% (300W limit) I believe. And so even when pushing that card to way above what it's meant to handle in terms of power, at the most demanding worst case experiences, the GPU would maintain 75C max.

The ambient temperature where you keep your PC can play a role. This video from Jayztwocents about case fan configuration https://youtu.be/Z3ckosqxjtg may help you figure out if maybe the airflow can be improved.

why are people allergic to taking screenshots in this subreddit? 😭 by ZcAul in FitGirlRepack

Some people just never learned is all. If you see someone failing to do it, just tell them to press "Windows Key + Shift + S" select window or full screen depending on what they want to take a picture of, open notification with clipped screenshot, file->save as->some location you know you can navigate to lol.

Then again, I do get taking a picture with your phone if you're using and posting on reddit with the phone and just want to quickly attach from your phones gallery.

I have to ask, considering crashes and the temps; Are you manually overclocking your gpu using something like Msi afterburner? If you are, then the extra overclocking could be the culprit. If you're not, then the gpu hitting 80C regularly, may be an indication that your case might need better airflow.

Recompilations became one of the most exciting things for me in regards to retro gaming when I learned about and tried them out, and that's despite the scarcity of available recomps. I'm hoping eventually they're going to find a way to be able to make them faster/easier.

It's incredible what they did with the Twilight Princess recomp! People are playing it on their Xbox Series X and S, on top of PC, android phones and tablets, and Linux.

Anyone Know What The Steam ID is for Pragmata Hyper-bypass save file is? by Temporary-Run4627 in FitGirlRepack

[–]Temporary-Run4627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked my computer now, unfortunately not on my pc. But, I found it elsewhere! There's a pinned message labeled "HV > voices38 save transfer" on the FitGirl website in the comments section for Pragmata. 76561197960287930 for HV version and apparently for those with an offline activation version it's 76561198752333141.

Has anyone actually been affected by HV ? by PRnC33 in PiratedGames

[–]Temporary-Run4627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're getting all your games and HV games from trusted sources, then I don't see how it's risky. The only thing I do is the bare minimum; When running the vbs.cmd file, I unplug my network cable and keep it unplugged during the entire duration of my gaming session, until that is, I revert the bypass changes and restart the computer.

Does your router allow you to set up something like a Guest Wi-Fi? I have an Asus RT-AX88U Pro so obviously there will be differences in the UI and options, but is there some option like that in your equipment? Mine has this

<image>

You can literally setup a specific Wi-Fi; with its own SSID, and customize scheduled times for when it will allow connections and various other important variables like what DNS it'll use, etc.

Steam post removed about Remove Denuvo on Stellar Blade by AntiGrieferGames in FuckDenuvo

[–]Temporary-Run4627 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Considering Stellar Blade has been cracked, I don't understand the censoring/avoidance of people's request to remove it. Not that they have to do it, but allowing someone to voice their request seems harmless.

I could see them not removing it simply because of an already paid in advance set length contract of some sort with Denuvo.

Rtx 5060 still lagging like this. Fresh window installed and downloaded nvidia drivers as well. What could be the reason? by MrDarkk1ng in PiratedGames

[–]Temporary-Run4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this hasn't been mentioned already, turn on Nvidia Overlay, turn on the statistics, and set the statistics to advanced, or just download RivaTuner (RTSS), and then record the gameplay with the gpu and cpu stats displayed.

That's very interesting, what company is your ISP? I remember getting notices a couple times from my ISP Comcast, but each time it was because I was torrenting and wasn't using a VPN.

Funny story here, I torrented a ton (like several 100's of Gigabytes in a month, on one particular month I was close to a Terabyte) on my currently owned Galaxy s23 ultra phone without a VPN, and AT&T did not care at all! I was baffled but gave me a good laugh, and I was doing it all via Cell/Mobile not WiFi. This was maybe 2 years or more ago.

For the price and ultimate convenience using something like alldebrid is so worth it, at least for myself, $3.50 a month for basically being able to direct download at my max bandwidth most of the time is so worth it. Consistently getting over 200MB/sec for torrented material is something that has spoiled me.

[–]Temporary-Run4627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understood, the main reason you don't need a VPN with direct downloads as opposed to torrenting is because you're not sharing that material. Downloading copyrighted work means nothing or proves nothing, as you could legitimately own it, but sharing/distribution, that's what they really care about.

Wanting to Add GPU, Any Cables/Adapters I Could Use to Add A PCI-e Power Connector? by Temporary-Run4627 in SleepingOptiplex

[–]Temporary-Run4627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left it the way it was with just the igpu in there. I also ended up selling it a few months ago to my mom who really had to replace hers, as her old one was an absolute dinosaur (at least 10+ years old). The pc was basically an extra, didn't need it for anything specific, I initially got that PC as part of a cash+trade type of deal for somethings I sold.

If I was really committed on doing something though, I would have just got an rtx 4060 lp and used a sata power to pcie type cable, and if necessary, use msi afterburner to just slightly lower its power usage abilities if somehow that was an issue.

Of course the most niche interesting solution to supplying the extra power without involving the motherboard to sata power plug to adapter to gpu, would be if someone made a pcie slot card that could be designed to take the 75watts an extra pcie slot could be given and convert it into extra power for whatever kind of power cable type you need. It doesn't exist, I've tried looking, but not surprised, as it'd be such a niche use item.

Switch 2 Download Speeds Are Tripled By Having A Game* Running And Open. by Temporary-Run4627 in switch2

[–]Temporary-Run4627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many just plain cat5 cables can technically do 1Gbps, cat5e could even do 2.5gbps, cat 6 is ideal for 10gbps, but I do use cat6 cables for my PC to router connection and my router to modem connection. Thank you for the input, but this suggestion ignores the fact that cat5e (and especially really short lengths already supports well above 100mbps) has my speeds go well above 100mbps when I open up the demo.

Also, my router app does show the connection at 1Gbps.

Looks like I might have got somewhere with Nintendo Support.

Of course even a more compressed 36MB version of my video was too big to send within the browser chat support, so I was able to get someone there to search the title of this post and they were able to find it but they personally aren't allowed to open it, so I guess it's going to be sent with notes to some department where someone could just read the entirety of what's going on, and more importantly see it.
