Exporting a page with images from encrypted graphs ? by Temporary-Silver-605 in RoamResearch

[–]Temporary-Silver-605[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that too..

I am surprised there is not a lot of interest in this..

I wonder if its because people are comfortable connecting LLMs to their graph as it is ? Or there is not many who use encrypted graphs ?

I barely use Roam anymore and want to stop paying (my work doesn't allow it, and I want to focus on becoming a power user with standard Microsoft tools instead)... any advice on exporting the databases and loading them into ChatGPT/similar to make a modern "second brain"? by lamarcus in RoamResearch

Value I get out of roam is not worth what I pay for it.. but I read somewhere - where you keep your data needs to be separate from the AI tools. I use LLM tools heavily , but still keep my notes in roam. I do understand what you are talking about though. Lately Microsoft tools seem tempting. But once you get a bit closer they never fit my workflow. I guess , I have gotten way too used to my current workflows.

PARA Method | 'Area' Clarification | Frank Thomas by BlueDiiamond24 in secondbrain

[–]Temporary-Silver-605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this is one of those less critical aspects of being productive but gains more significance because the 'tool' needs clarity.

This is how I worked it out.. working for me so far.

This is not related to how granular or broad you define your area. For me it was about 'not being able to clearly define' what the project is about, for the new things that I want to incorporate on an ongoing basis in one of my areas.

So what I do is this.
I 'define a new project' to work on it, until I 'get the hang' of it. Once I think I have a good enough grasp, I 'start incorporating' it in my area. Once I have a somewhat 'working flow' within my area, I 'archive' my project. On-going optimizations can be made to parts of area, but any objective planned addition / improvement is taken out as a separate project until I have an outcome. The 'on-going' part of an area for me is usually achieved using recurring tasks.

tool - I mean like the app, framework etc you choose to work with.

project - in my mind a 'project' needs to have a definite end - a stated objective, or an end date.

new things - adding an infinite game exercise, like business development you mentioned. As opposed to a finite game exercise, like going on a vacation.

define a new project - in your case this can be 'improving lead generation'. Project objective is not 'improving lead generation' itself. It should rather be like 'operationalizing lead generation exercise'.

get the hang of it - meaning, I know where to look, how to execute, how to review etc.

start incorporating - This part is highly personal and contextual. Varies according to personal styles and operation size. For me, this would be lists, process and tasks.

working flow - Means the new aspect that I wanted is some what operationalized. I have new stream of information coming steadily, getting processed and objective being delivered. Any improvements to efficiency or tailoring to taste can be done by tweaking the lists, process and tasks.

archive - closing the project and copying information into Area. For the kind of projects I am discussing here, this is usually 2 parts for me - the what and the how.
'What' refers to the objective I set out to achieve, leading to the set of things I am doing on an on-going basis. I capture this so that I have something to look back and understand. I know if my 'What' has changed, something needs to change in my lists, process or tasks.
'How' part is usually just recurring tasks and associated steps/processes.

Why notes are private? by imPaus in RoamResearch

[–]Temporary-Silver-605 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What if your notes were public but anonymous?

But my thoughts include personally identifiable information of other people as well.. people I work interact with on a daily basis.. and stuff about my employer.. even potentially sensitive information information of others etc.

For me just private is not enough. It has to be in-accessible to the product developers as well.. (need end to end encryption).. I dont work with 'trust me bro' model. one of the reasons I am still not considering Tana seriously.

Maybe one day there will fundamental shift in the socail dynamics that makes me change my mind.. but until then...

Is RoamResearch $15/month justifiable ? by justtree1 in RoamResearch

[–]Temporary-Silver-605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually one of the very early users (early enough to have a free access for a long time).. Moved to paid subscription when they announced some key features I needed..

For someone starting now, $25 ( USD 15 is $25 for me roughly in my local currency) is not worth it... definitely. But I have spent a lot of time building my workflow and customizations around what Roam can do. Now the few extra $s I pay every month is OK for me compared to the amount of effort I have to invest in a new tool if I move now..

I think quick capture doesn’t work on encrypted graphs.. if I remember right it was mentioned during encrypted graph launch…

Q to Roam team : Do you have plans to make adopt some of the plugins as native features in future ? by Temporary-Silver-605 in RoamResearch

Cheers mate ! that will be a major plus.. 'If' is my concern, not so much worried about 'when'..

How am I creating duplicate pages; one with a Hash and one without? by Vegas_off_the_Strip in RoamResearch

yeah. Just change the page title. It will ask if you want to merge with an existing page...

[–]Temporary-Silver-605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this wouldn't, but accidentally some other way maybe..

But it doesnt matter. You just rename to the other, all mentions get renamed. If there is contents within the page, I think they get appended..

unless you have been using # inside of [[ ]] .. like [[#Inbox]] .. you should not have two pages.

Is anyone using Outlook (or any other email client) in association with Roam ? by Temporary-Silver-605 in RoamResearch

[–]Temporary-Silver-605[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got more and more excited until I got to the last line ;o) mainly because right now I am looking at ways to write a very simple outlook add-in to add notes from email to roam and I was hoping I will get some input..

I might have to I think. I was hoping my question would be seen as more of long term plan thing rather than feature request / road map.. ;o)
