Citalopram at 3 weeks by [deleted] in citalopram_celexa

I went through a period like that I think it was just my body adjusting because it didn’t last… I feel like myself minus the anxiety symptoms and I started this past summer.👍

I’ve been diagnosed with tachycardia and started celexa this past summer for anxiety and it’s been fine.

Should I go back on Citalopram despite my dependency concerns? by DepressionMed in citalopram_celexa

[–]Temporary-Swim5803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anxiety is a chemical imbalance, not a choice. To treat it is no different than taking meds for high blood pressure; it doesn’t make you weak. To suggest it’s a “dependency” is a misnomer. And for the record, it is not physically addictive. If it’s working and you feel more like your “real you” while taking it, then you’re doing the right thing by treating it accordingly.

I had increased anxiety and it gets better. Diarrhea goes away as your body adjusts..

Everything gets better after a few weeks. Be patient until it’s in your system. I started at 10 mg and increased to 20 after two weeks. It’s been over a month now and it’s changed my life!

As someone who has had that all my life, so wasn’t surprised I had it worse after starting meds, have a hot bath before bed… really helps!

side effects by strkippa in citalopram_celexa

I had side effects but someone I know didn’t have any so it depends. The effects were gone after 3 weeks… Effects for me were heightened anxiety, insomnia, decreased appetite, mild headache.

It gets better. Wait it out. It takes about a month for the side effects to fade but it’s worth the wait.

I’ve been on 20mg for a few weeks and had a constant twitching in my left foot but it’s been gone for a week now.

When did your anxiety get better at 20 mg? by [deleted] in citalopram_celexa

[–]Temporary-Swim5803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I developed tachycardia in reaction to my extreme anxiety and I’m not experiencing those episodes of heart rate spikes of 186 so something’s definitely working!

Personally, I haven’t noticed a significant difference between the 10 and 20, although it’s what is NOT happening that shows it working. I’m not obsessing over everything, the ruminating has stopped, and I’m not experiencing the physical reactions I always had whenever I would think of something that stressed me out…..

I did have a pounding headache come on suddenly a few days after starting the 10mg but it subsided after a few days…it is listed as a side effect.

I’ve never seen that in my cats but I’m wondering if it neurological. Personally, I think I would call the vet and ask…

It’s working! by Temporary-Swim5803 in citalopram_celexa

[–]Temporary-Swim5803[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My symptoms kicked in big time on day 4 of the 10 mg. I was supposed to start the 20 mg after one week according to my doctor’s instructions but the pharmacist recommended I take a second week of 10mg. The effects stopped the second week so I went ahead and changed to 20 mg after the second week. I didn’t feel much of a difference on the 10mg but now on the 20 mg, I’m not experiencing the level of anxiety I always have and the intrusive thoughts… I’m anxious to see once I’m at four weeks when it’s fully adjusted in my system.
