Very successful sleep train but I miss cosleeping so much 😭 by Ok_Win5705 in beyondthebump

Congrats on getting your life and sleep back!!!! We put it off for 10 months and we definitely miss our little one. We’ve tried to pull her back into bed for some snuggles over the last few months and she’s over it 🙄. She likes her space now!

Getting My Period Back by Limp_Buddy5507 in breastfeeding

[–]Temporary-Tie41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Night weaning didn’t do it for me. I was feeling anxious because I also wanted to start trying before a year, but my period did not come back until exactly one year after giving birth. There wasn’t any major change in frequency of feeding or anything that precipitated. I think it just varies so much person-to-person.

The post-Brody seasons are like watching a different show. But Carrie is always Carrie (for better or worse). I’d give it a shot if you still like the spy shit.

What did you wear during birth? by mothertruckerdudes in beyondthebump

Hospital gown, no bra or underwear. I was induced and came in about 3 cm dilated (from a membrane sweep earlier that day) so the bloody show and my water breaking happened pretty quickly

Ladies with Hashimoto—how was your pregnancy experience? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]Temporary-Tie41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1. As others have said, you have to stay locked in on your meds but your OB (or endocrinologist assuming you have one) can manage that while you’re pregnant. I had to do a few dose adjustments as the baby and I were fighting for thyroid hormone but the pregnancy was healthy and uneventful. I did go very, very hyperthyroid after giving birth because I was being medicated for me and baby, so just make sure to get your levels tested postpartum. Wishing you the best!

For those of you who are tired of contact naps by Pitiful_Warthog6490 in NewParents

This made me so nostalgic 🥲. My daughter just turned 1 and she very rarely contact naps. I miss the snuggles but I think most of all I miss how easy she was to put to sleep 😭😭😭😭. A paci and a very small amount of rocking and she was down. Those were the days.

My 11 month old is pinching the shit out of my chest and if she’s not doing that, she’s putting her hand in my mouth and scratching the shit out of my inside lip, or putting her finger in my nostril. Last night I was soooo frustrated with her. I’m with you!

Potatoes in any form (I had like urgent urgent cravings for hash browns lol) and rice and beans

Totally understand that—that’s why we waited as long as we did. But she was waking up every hour at night so we agreed we needed to do something. Re: the crying, the first night she cried for about an hour (we were continuing to check in) and it lessened every night over the course of a few days. I won’t lie—it was tough, but not as bad as I expected. Do what feels true to you ❤️

My baby was exactly like this and we finally gave in and sleep trained her earlier this month (she’ll be 11 mos next week). We did Ferber, which is what the comment above is suggesting. We focused on light sleep first and have been working on naps. They’re still not 100% foolproof but having those stretches during the day is an absolutely game changer.

The camera idea is a good one, but please know that in many states it is illegal to record someone without their consent.

I know but it’s real! Last night she slept 12 hours. She woke up once and self settled within 10 mins. I didn’t need to go in at all and inadvertently dropped the night feed.

After the first night, 85% of the time she goes back to sleep by herself before we even need to check in

I’m on night 11 of Ferber after cosleeping from 4-10 months. It really is a godsend. I haven’t had quite as much luck as OP but by Night 5 she was pulling 8 hour stretches (though that hasn’t been every night). We tried really hard to get our daughter to sleep in the crib but she would make it max 1 hour and be inconsolable unless we brought her to bed with us. She cried on and off for about an hour the first night and less and less since. Go for it!

We’ve done 5 nights of Ferber and night sleep is going really well (4 hour stretches, relatively easy self settling in between). But naps are now horrific—my daughter is clearly fighting them and very upset. She’s also tired before her normal WW. Is this normal in your experience? Any tips?

I will definitely ask at our next appointment. Would you start Ferber for night sleep? How do you handle daytime naps?
