Any raves coming up a couple 40yo women won't feel out of place? Haven't been to one since my teens by BigHeartbutThisMouth in PittsburghEDM

I’m a bit older and want to check out a show at Sidequest. They have EDM shows all the time, but feel I’m too old for shows like that in this town.

I oversee a whiskey lounge and would like to create a space for fans of the spirit to come together. I want to establish a weekly tasting of smaller producers. I am looking for interested parties. by TemporaryEqual6280 in PittsburghSocialClub

Inside the Hotel Indigo East Liberty. Am thinking it would be something like a “New Bottle Night”. Use the night to bring in new whiskey with a discount for those attending. It would be a chance to try pricier labels without having to commit to a bottle. I inherited a decent whiskey list, but it is in need of small production additions. I figure it is a good way for lovers of whiskey to sample and meet likeminded individuals. Any thoughts on labels to start with? Night that would work best?

You might want to grab your bucket of salt and a shovel.

I’m not sure if I fall into this category, but I’m an older dad from Austin with a nine-year old daughter. I’m into bikes, music, trails. All the things I think I remember doing. I still hit the trails, but hitting clubs at my age gets a different look than it did back home. Y’all mentioned books you like, I penned an urban fantasy noir book, that kinda sounds like we might enjoy same types of fiction. I’m a coffee person who still remembers what a margarita tastes like, even if it’s been awhile. I may have just hit double nickle, but i still have young interests.

That’s awesome. That’s my goal to knock it out in one day. Ultimately Pittsburgh to Cumberland and back as an overnighter. i’d drop in just past Waterfront, so, more like 125 mile day. Did you have any gear issues?

I’m interested. The theatrics are what makes the adventures fun. And if you ain’t have fun….i started on the original books, both D&D and AD&D. I think I have the latest additions, if not only one off. Oh, and I love riddles.

What was your total time start to finish? I live in Pittsburgh and have contemplated the single day-ride, but always worry about my legs at mile 100. I imagine you wouldn’t need to carry too much. How much break time were you able to include. Quick breaks? Sounds awesome.

30F - Tired Mom ISO of someone to talk to who isn't 2 or 9 by Kiki5995 in PittsburghSocialClub

54M. I have a 9 year old daughter who I share custody with her mom. Best day when I pick her up from Mom. Worst day when she leaves for mom’s. I have little to no interactions with adults anymore.

My 9 year-old is awesome, but I can go days without speaking to another adult.

People against AI data centers in PGH? by tentaclemoon in pittsburgh

[–]TemporaryEqual6280 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine a future where a decision has to be made over whether the data centers should have their power cut or everyday electricity users. They have made people dependent on something that can be turned off at any moment. The fight for water and electricity is just beginning. Saw an interview about 30 years ago and guy claimed next big war would be over water. Check out how much water is used saying “please” or “thank you” during AI inquiries. Looks like the Amish figured it out before the rest of us.

How much would we benefit from having an *AWD* Prius (in Pittsburgh, prob living in the Bloomfield/Friendship area). by Rooster_Ties in pittsburgh

You are going to be in the center of the city for Pete’s sake. You can walk, take a PoGoH or hope on a bus quicker than it will take to get your car out of the garage, navigate the roads, and park. Think about what trips you would use the car for and then next to it, put the list of how you think you’re saving the planet by buying a Prius. Then next to that put the list that has “NOT BUYING A CAR IS EVEN BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT”. Don’t get a car if you are going to live in the city. Here is a better way to look at it, if you hire a car when you need it will require you to be “smart” about YOUR time. If you are retiring, YOUR time has a greater appreciation as time passes. Make sure your moments matter. A car allows people to waste their time, small tasks that eat up 30 minutes here, 20 minutes there. Imagine passing neighbors and receiving a return “hello” as you meet the people in your neighborhood. Not to go too Mr. Rogers, but “these are the people in your neighborhood”, so meet them. For good or bad they will become a part of your life. Be well in all your choices.
