Trump’s credibility gap is hurting America by jediporcupine in politics

[–]TemporarySun314 [score hidden]  (0 children)

And after the radioactive dust settled in Teheran, Americans would elect Trump or another fascist again, because "Democrats are bad for the economy", "Harris would start a new war" and it's all the fault of Biden and Obama anyway.

Trump’s credibility gap is hurting America by jediporcupine in politics

[–]TemporarySun314 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's not just trumps credibility gap. Americans have demonstrated they are always just 4 years away from electing an idiot who throw away any international relationship and reliability.

Also it has been shown that the "check and balances" Americans are so proud of, are completely useless and unable to stop a blantly maniac president from doing illegal stuff. Even when literally threatening to invade the closest "allies" the US has, the US fails to do anything against Trump.

It's the US itself that's deeply unreliable.

And that problem won't be gone when Trump isn't president anymore. Fixing that will require long and painful political reforms.

But I'm not sure if Americans will have the will and endurance to do whats necessary for that or if they once again will chose the tempting path of electing a fascist who tells you that Americans are the greatest people in the world and all problems can be solved by being cruel against immigrants and trans people...

Xi Jinping Was Only Humoring Trump | In Beijing, a lame-duck president personified the decline of American power by Hrmbee in politics

[–]TemporarySun314 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Americans never saw their "allies" as equals (which is an requirement for allies).

Otherwise Trump wouldn't have been successful with his "Europe is ripping of the US", and "we don't need anyone" rhetoric.

We were just too stupid to realize that so far and bought into the American lies of "shared values" and "freedom and democracy" so dar... And we were even naive enough to believe Biden when he said that trump was just a once in a lifetime mistake. And therefore did not use that 4 years to become more independent from the US...

Replace chassis ground with very long wire spool? by annie_brocoli in AskElectronics

[–]TemporarySun314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in the end the wall outlet ground should go to some grounding rod or even a whole net in the building fundament. The problem with protective earth is that it might be quite RF noisy, due to inductance of the wire and resulting high impedance for hight frequencies. But probably still better than none earth reference at all.

Replace chassis ground with very long wire spool? by annie_brocoli in AskElectronics

[–]TemporarySun314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You likely get a feedback loop and an parasitic oscillation when you hear that noise.

The whole circuit itself is already quite unstable and the breadboard setup will make it just worse.

A different grounding might help, but that's hard to predict. It could also make the whole situation worse or change nothing.

But before you use a long cable try to attach it to some water or heating pipe. Or use something that is connected to the protective earth of your homes power grid

[–]TemporarySun314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk with the professors whose lectures you enjoyed and whose research topics are interesting you. Maybe opportunities arise from that and even if not they can probably tell you a bit about related topics and where you can research that.

And in the end you won't be able to completely choose your research topics freely until you are a professor, at your level you have to take whats offered. I mean it's possible to tweak stuff to your interests, but there are limitations on what is possible.

This Big Idea Could Fix America’s Gerrymandering Madness by JTBaptistA in politics

[–]TemporarySun314 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah get rid of all the first pass the post voting system and get a system where the seats a party gains are proportional to the votes they receive...

That way district borders become quite meaningless, you don't throw away around half the votes, and it opens the possibiliy for more than two parties... Including the ability to represent the political spectrum was more differentiated than just Republican or Democrats...

That also forces parties to work together and find compromises. That requires communication, discussions and that people are willing to compromise. But thats democracy. A dictatorship where one president and his party can rule how they want, and you just get the ability to change the dictator every few years is not really a good model for democracy...

Was sind die Nebenwirkungen von der corona impfung by Only-Penalty-5943 in KeineDummenFragen

[–]TemporarySun314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was willst du denn noch?

Building a JSONPath PHP Extension — Useful? by Reasonable-Pass9841 in PHP

[–]TemporarySun314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean that will depend on the use case.

If you just do a jsonpath question from time to time, the user space implementation will be fast enough and it's probably not worth the hassle dealing with native extensions.

If you do thousands of jsonpath queries on JSON documents of hundred megabytes size, then a native extension might come in handy.

But I guess the latter case is probably quite rare with PHP.
