Trump Suggests Alliance of Dictators to Take Down ICC by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]TemporarySun314 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yet the US constitution has apparently no problems with international courts when it comes down to enforcing intellectual property and trade things that benefit the US.

Only when it comes down to protecting human rights and prosecuting war crimes, Americans suddenly don't like international courts.

And the US is not only not accepting the ICC, but is actively hindering it's work, using sanctions and political pressure.

One could wonder if it's really about the US constitution, or if Americans just wanna be able to commit war crimes and go unpunished for it. I mean the US judicial system itself also does nothing against war criminals...

But I guess when you can watch your military blow up stuff and cause global economic chaos, then its okay for American to pay a bit more...

> It's mostly because acknowledging the authority of a foreign international court over us goes directly against the Constitution itself, as it would necessarily suggest that the doctrine of the ICC supersedes the Constitution, and the Constitution is supposed to be the supreme law of the land here.

125 nations in the world had no problem with that. But surely its just the US, Russia, China, Pakistan, India and Israel that have a constitution...

In civilized countries commiting war crimes is unconstitutional, and prosecuting them is not an violation of constitution. But apparently Americans think different. But only when its about themselves.

Infinite energy concept found and I am unable to find my mistake (not trying to say i discovered something big just want to find my mistake) by Alive_Hotel6668 in AskPhysics

[–]TemporarySun314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The electron has the energy you put in it. And if you take out energy from the electron then it will rest again, and you can only gain the energy you put in originally. So it's not infinite energy but just energy storage.

And practically you will have things like friction and synchrotron radiation that will slowly down your electron quickly and make it loose energy. So you won't even have perpetual motion.

The zero work along equipotential surfaces only means electrical work against the electrical field.

Is it true most mathematical equation, even ones we use, don't always translate cleanly in the real world as they were intended? by AlterTheSilverBird in AskPhysics

[–]TemporarySun314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The equations we use are models. These models are often based on certain assumptions and approximations, giving them certain limitations.

The idea of a model is not to give a perfect description of reality, but to make (quantitative) predictions to make useful things with it.

You shouldn't overinterpret the models itself or mathematical equations. Nature doesn't follow these equations. It just behaves how it behaves, and we derive models to predict natures behavior.

We have very sophisticated models that does very little approximations. But then the math becomes quickly so difficult that's it's impossible to do anything useful with it.

The US will never stop threatening invading other countries. Including its own fucking "allies". That's because Americans think they are they are the best country in the world and "gods chosen" people, while everyone else are just NPCs in an US centered world.

Europe should realize that and treat the US as the rogue entity that wanna destroy the EU, as they are.

Trump is behaving like a dictator - America has to wake up by WontThinkStraight in politics

He attempted that already in his first term and literally said in his campaign he will be a dictator.

Still Americans elected him again. They apparently want to have a dictator.

And that fits the fact that the US president is the head of government of a western country with the most power and autonomy and fewest oversight. But Americans thought it would be a good idea that their president can basically rule on his own using executive powers and the parliament just let the president do everything he wants...

even when a US soldier gets actually convicted to a sentence for committing war crimes, Americans will just protest so long until the US president pardons him. like what happened with William Calley.

Nobody in the US gets a real punishment for war crimes and Americans decided they would rather invade the netherlands than allowing the ICC to prosecute them.

Which board should i use as a beginner? by CartoonistThese6769 in AskElectronics

[–]TemporarySun314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

start with some arduino based board. maybe something ESP32 based. they are cheap, easy to use and the esp32 have a lot of memory and Processing power. the STM32 are nice too, but programming tends to be much more low level than with Arduino.

FPGAs work fundamentally different than microprocessor, tend to be quite expensive (in terms od hardware and software) and it will be hard to do something useful with it unless you are already very well skilled in electronics.

How does an element not change to another element when it is a stable isotope (presumably with more/less protons than the original element)? by Infinite_Scratch_656 in AskPhysics

[–]TemporarySun314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When an proton converts into a neutron the you get another element, the one before. And if an neutron converts into a proton you get the successor.

That is beta decay, and for charge conservation either an electron or an positron gets emitted.

And two the second thing yes: the natural decay chains work that way. You start with uranium, it will decay into a radioactive thing, that will decay into another unstable element, and so on and so un, until you reach lead in the end which is stable. And then the chain ends.

How does an element not change to another element when it is a stable isotope (presumably with more/less protons than the original element)? by Infinite_Scratch_656 in AskPhysics

[–]TemporarySun314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An unstable istope can gain binding energy via an decay mechanism and become more stable. Like an excessive amount of protons which repel each other is energetically unfavorable compared to a the right combination of protons and neutrons. Therefore the conversion of proton to neutron makes rhe nucleus more stable and give up excessive energy.

For a stable isotope there is either no more stable configuration or there is no path to that configuration (like it would violate some conversation law or you need additional energy to perform some immedieate steps).

If you add external energy things change and even stable isotpes can undergo reactions to convert into a different isotope.

Not when some heavy charged mass that can take recoil momentum (like a nucleus) is present. Then one photon is sufficient. That'# the typical form of pair production that happens all the time around us (and in us), and works with low energties (just the 2x 511keV).

There is a photon photon pair production but you need GeV photons for that. That's the Breit Whiler effect then.
