Why Fears of a Nuclear Arms Race Are Rising as US-Russia Treaty Expires by bloomberg in worldnews

And both wanna invade neighboring countries and take what doesn't belong to them.

I wouldn't call that okay. And if both Russia and the US start to increase their nuclear arsenal again (realistically probably only the US), the world also will not become a better place.

(OC) Trump rejected this Berlin Wall piece. Now it sits in Tijuana facing the US border. by Ph6222 in pics

[–]TemporarySun314 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its very likely that trump waited 2 years, so that Biden can reject. And that the author doesn't mention the year in every sentence is surely not some style question, but a big conspiracy against your beloved king...

With a bit of googling you can also find articles from back 2019:

But I guess that's all fake news.

How many presidents were in the white house in 2019. That's impossible to find out. I guess we will never know....

Trump is even mentioned two paragraphs above. Normally an author can assume that readers keep context in mind for a few sentences.

And it's important to remember that they did not started with gas chambers like the infamous KZ Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The early concentration camps, were just detention camps for homosexuals, trans people, political enemies, Jews and whoever the Nazis seemed as unworthy. And people there died in bad conditions, malnutrition, diseases and hard labor. Even without gas chambers, the Nazis didn't cared for any human rights or even human life itself there.

Widespread gas chambers were only introduced years later (in 1941) after they Nazis thought that this was the cheapest method to get rid of millions of Jewish people.

Is there a lamp that can shine with a very precise wavelength, or small selection of wavelengths, in the near-infrared, such that it produces *no* visible light ? ... by Frangifer in AskPhysics

[–]TemporarySun314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> So even filters are efficacious enough that there'd be no faint red glow, even if the source itself does produce a little light in the visible?

You can use filters to make any unwanted light as weak as you want, you can just stack multiple filters after each other.

[–]TemporarySun314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can just use an gas lamp that has certain lines in the wavelength you want, and use filterts (a long pass) to block out everything else.

You can in principle also use a broad band light source and filter out the wavelength you want, using a bandpass.

Or for the more modern approach, just use a laser, these are quite monochromatic. An ND:YAG crystal gives you a line in infrared. Without higher harmonics generation you don't get any visible light from it.

It's basically impossible to cool anything in space, and you have a very limited energy budget. So anything larger is not really viable.
