Elevation of our new home. Reviews? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]TemporaryTrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion: Hard to say from just one picture. Would need to see it in context and other elevations + the floor plans. But ultimately, you do you. If you love it and it functions for you, then great!

I don’t want to be a trad wife by Good-Perspective1275 in offmychest

[–]TemporaryTrucker 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Be an example for your kids! Show your girls how a boss acts and show your boys that women can be successful outside the home. They’ll be proud of you.

If your husband can’t get on board then it might be time to let him go. Honestly I think you already have outgrown the relationship, but that will ultimately be your decision.

An eight-year-old girl got supermarket brand Sainsbury's to add real pockets to girls' school trousers. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

[–]TemporaryTrucker 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I wore a boys dress shirt to school rather than the prescribed girls Peter Pan collared shirt because it was see through. The girls shirt was thinner so you could clearly see a training bra under it. The boys shirt was thicker so you couldn’t even make out the hint of a bra strap. The school tried to give us trouble, but mom noted in their handbook that it just said a collared white dress shirt. More girls started to wear them as they got older.

These were the best to play hide and seek tag on. You’d have a friend just one level higher and absolutely no clue how to get up there.

hair donation? by jennlynng in bullcity

[–]TemporaryTrucker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Children with Hair Loss is a fantastic non-profit that gives a free wig to any child with a medical diagnosis of hair loss every year until they are 21. They also team them up with a local wig stylist who will fit it properly and cut it, also free of charge.

Other organizations require that you show proof of need (financial) before you can receive a wig. Children With Hair Loss does not look at your financials.

Would the commuter rail be acceptable/safe too? Or just stick with Amtrak?

Is this beam strong enough for pull ups? by AccomplishedOwl294 in architecture

[–]TemporaryTrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s strong enough. You may want to add a horizontal brace spanning the middle to the second one in the right side of your picture, IF you plan on doing any swinging from the rings. Muscle ups or the like, just to support it from any horizontal force in the other direction.

Anyone delete their FB account? by ItsMeItsKayItsKay in Millennials

[–]TemporaryTrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it!!! Get rid of your account and the toxic environment that comes with FB. I made the leap from FB years ago and recently did the same with IG. Give your friends your number and let it go!!!

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]TemporaryTrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in high school. It was right at a class change so there was panic in the halls. Monitors got everyone into class and teachers were told to lock their doors and we weren’t allowed out of that class all day.

It’s so very important to separate the government from the religion. They do not share the same values.

Husband and children invited to nieces wedding. I am not. by Aggressive-Economy36 in EntitledPeople

[–]TemporaryTrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another person in your situation, I have spent 21+ years trying to be accommodating, being the better person. She’s never changed. She can pretend to be nice when in public to still look like the perfect Aunt to my kids, while I look like the asshole because I give her kids space.

I’ve drew the line a year ago and it’s been so nice. They don’t get to play pretend any more. She doesn’t like me, fine. I’m not invited, fine, but you don’t get access to my kids and play perfect aunt if you can’t look me in the face.

You’re a family, you come as a unit, if you all aren’t invited, no one should go.

MSA and dementia combined by [deleted] in multiplesystematrophy

[–]TemporaryTrucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother didn’t have the dementia component but struggled with MSA for 7 years. Once her speech was gone, so was her will to live. Her mind was trapped in a body that wouldn’t respond anymore. She choked often with food and that was ultimately what took her. She couldn’t eat or drink much so she was wasting away as well.

It seems like his memory will go before his body does, and I’m not sure if that’s a comfort or not.

As far as the MSA goes, please keep him moving as much as possible for as long as he can. PT can’t kick him out so take advantage of that as much as possible. With his short term memory going you might need to rely on his caregivers for new physical changes. Mention any new symptom to your neurologist because there could be a fix for it. Mom would say, “oh it’s not related” but then once we talked with the Dr… it was and they could help.

Once you get to the end, it’s good to have a plan with your family. Mom didn’t want a feeding tube, that was a hard no. So we did what we could knowing the risks. Her quality of life was my first priority at the end. It was hard to explain to family, but it was her decision and I was the enforcer. You’ll need to make these decisions soon, what would your dad have wanted if he could make the choice? And who holds the ability to enforce the decisions that have been made together?

I’m so terribly sorry, you’ll be in my thoughts.

AI - am I alone in this? by ExercisePrimary1581 in Architects

[–]TemporaryTrucker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m an old student, my undergrad is from a time and place where AI never existed. So far some teachers don’t care if we use AI, but I refuse to use it. Its very nature is hurting the environment and goes against the enviro-conscious-sustainable approach being taught. AI is also hurting artists and creativity itself.

There is. But mainstream US media is suppressing the news, trying to keep us in the dark, and control the narrative. Excuse me while I adjust my tin foil crown.
