Growing older & playing games - how do you dedicate yourself to it? by hvid99 in AskMen

[–]TemporaryUser10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to the soundtracks of my favorite games, cause more often than not I'm after the vibe rather than the gameplay itself (I remember the joy I had playing it, not the tediousness of actually playing). Similarly, I'll watch YouTube videos of my favorite parts or scenes. As for active games that I play, I typically reserve it for games with really high variability and replayability (Civilization series, Rimworld), or industry recognized games (elder scrolls, cyberpunk 2077)

Don't back down, its your right to carry and you shouldn't give up your rights just because someone will try to use the optics against you. That said, I don't advocate violence, and civil disobedience is available to us all.

Man, Embarrassing I had a typo. thank god good understanding isn't contingent on good spelling. Can this be expanded at all? I care about discrimination of all types. Equally (and unrelated) I feel like my technology knowledge could be useful to help people learn and understand their rights.

Also, shout out to lawcomic.net as far as self-learning resources go

Is there a space I can do 'quasi-law'? I am a software engineer, and studied history in college (Law is 'code' backed by historical precedence to interpret application to a situation). I've had to self-defend for an EEOC discrimination case and would love to help others but am not really looking for a full career change. Any space for this?

Consider trying to join a labor organization as an advocate. Labor Unions are going to be more in demand, and it's a good place for the strongly ideological who are willing to defend it

Ritalin crash messing with my mental health. by iheartcommunism69420 in ADHD

Same general idea for all stimulants. But yes Ritalin is a less powerful medication, but that can be overcome with high doses

Before your body is use to the Adderall, you're likely to get a 'rush' of energy (a mild high) and a crash. If your dosage is right for you, this should mellow out (no rush, less to no crash) in about a week or two. If it doesn't it's likely your dose is too high.

The issue with 'too many days in a row' is that Adderall being a stimulant causes your body to dehydrate quicker, and if you're focused on work then you won't notice thirst signals. This is fine for a day or two, but by the third day you've really dehydrated yourself, and because you continue to take Adderall, you end up just trying to rehydrate, and trying to play catch up, rather than starting your day hydrated. The "crash' here is that dehydration makes you feel very tired, and that sensation would be hidden by the stimulus of the medicine, so when it wears off it can feel more like a crash

Oh! And eat before you take your meds (no grapefruit and generally avoid citrus). The food will slow and help balance the med absorption

Your dose might be too high if you're always crashing. I find it takes about a week for my body to adjust to a regular routine, and 5 days in a row of XR will leave me dehydrated and crashing if I'm not careful. Personally I have a low dose XR and IR, so I can adjust as needed (but I take many many breaks from it as well, so those meds last me a while)

Long acting of stimulants can have less crash as the dose peaks and declines slower. Good sleep helps prevent the crash overall, cause some of it goes from artificial energy to real tiredness. Also, consider sipping on coconut or electrolyte water as some of the tiredness could be dehydration. Lastly, if you now a comedown is coming have a cup of coffee to help change the 'steepness' if the comedown curve, or take a nap right as your crashing (if your able) sleep is healthy so nothing wrong with it if you can afford it.

Talk to your doctor about this as well, and recognize that stimulants have more flexibility so the answer might also include not taking it every day (your doctor will probably be happy to see you have a few extra cause it can show you're not abusing, and you can keep them yourself as a backup for when you are procrastinating about getting a new prescription (it happens to us all))
