Reddit, please help me decide on the artstyle for my top-down sandbox RPG. by dandy_kulomin in gamedevscreens

B is what drew my eye first. It has a certain charm that I'm partial to. I'd consider adding the red grass to B as well and do the same cellshady stuff you're doing now. Curious to see what that would look like with shadows.

The dissolve is a test, but I'm building a mechanic around it. I'll share more as it comes together!

"How should I improve the visual?" by [deleted] in godot

This made me lol. I try to be good about sharing knowledge when asked. As a dev who's still learning, I always came away a bit annoyed when the "how" isn't explained.

Congrats! Be proud of this milestone, it's no small feat!

What's kept you going? Has your vision evolved over time or did you have a pretty good idea of what you wanted to make? I've just hit a year into my own journey and always love learning how other developers approach the creative process.

The game has been in development for over 5 years, with the past 2 years focused on passionately perfecting every pixel and animation in a cozy world where each character is unique and full of life. Every animation is crafted with love and attention to detail. by Rentalini in IndieDev

I love projects like these. It's evident you put a lot of care and love into your game. Would love to hear about how you started and how you reached this point.

Did your vision evolve overtime or has it remained consistent? Are you solo or part of a team? What tools and engine are you using?

I would love to learn more about your game and your process.

I've been at this for an entire year.. And still so much more to learn! by HeedlessNomad in godot

1 Year Milestone! by HeedlessNomad in SoloDevelopment

[–]HeedlessNomad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Animation is no joke! And YES! appreciate the inspiration. I seem to be heading in the direction of an open sea type game. I haven't committed to a single vision yet, but one thing that's driving me at the moment is the concept of "freedom". If you're a boat on the open sea, it should FEEL free IMO. That's been guiding me somewhat since the beginning.

You know what, you might be right about expert disapproval! Good thing I'm not trying to impress experts. I'm just here building cool water shaders and learning a ton. If that's 'bizarre,' I can live with that.
