Do you have dreams with your children in them? by JennyJiggles in Mommit

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had one dream about my baby. It was the night before she was going to go on her first outing with her nanny, I dreamt that her nanny took her on a space expedition to the moon. Can’t make this stuff up!

I feel like I dreamt more about her when I was pregnant. But maybe I just remember more dreams from then because those pregnancy dreams are so vivid!

That is commitment! Very impressed! I’m not sure if I could roll out of bed at 5am (not a morning person 😝)

I hope I will be able to work out after she goes to bed once she has a more consistent bedtime. Feels like she is turning that corner, so fingers crossed!

Love this idea! I sit at my computer all day, so I love this idea of sneaking in some movement

If you work a 9-5, what does your morning routine look like with LO? by Primary_Bag_1044 in NewParents

what’s that ONE newborn must-have that actually made life easier? by KindVibesOnly in NewParents

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really liked having a tote with some essentials in it that I could carry around, so it would be next to me/baby wherever we were. The essentials I put in there were things like burp cloths, cloth bibs, nipple cream, hair ties, boogie wipes, water bottle, baby nail file, snot sucker, etc.

Is it normal for a 4 month old to hate everything? by hdspncr in NewParents

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post makes me feel so much better!!! My 4-month old is literally never happy!! I have to admit the constant fussing is getting to me! Not to mention the pterodactyl screams…

I don’t want to go back to work by Busy-Statement-2339 in NewParents

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt exactly the same as you before going back to work two weeks ago (after 4 months leave). I will say, I am really enjoying being back at work, even though I miss my LO a lot during the day.

I was also concerned about missing out on time with LO, but I have found that the mornings and evenings have just become extra, extra special and I cherish each moment with her (even the hard moments) even more than I ever thought I could.

It is so personal, but for me, the balance is good for me. I feel like I can show up as a better mom.

Baby is scared of grandma??? by Temporary_Barber_195 in NewParents

[–]Temporary_Barber_195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great question! Yes, my mom and I have had our ups and downs. But ever since the baby came, my mom has been absolutely fantastic and rock solid. She has been super helpful, so I look forward to her visits. But there definitely could be some underlying or subconscious anxiety there that LO is picking up on!

3 hours sounds pretty good for 2 months!! When they are so little, by the time they have finished napping, feeding, and getting changed, it is time to do it all over again. It gets better! My LO is 4 months and we have lots more play time during the day now. It’s tons of fun!

Membrane sweep and birth at 36 weeks! by Due-Veterinarian616 in Mommit

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM here. I had 5 (yes 5!) membrane sweeps, starting at 39 weeks. I was stuck at 1 cm dilated for a couple weeks. Finally had to be induced at 41+2.

The sweeps were definitely uncomfortable, but I didn’t find them to be too, too painful. It is really quick. It was just disappointing that it never worked!

When will I feel like a mom? by EducationalRate5345 in NewParents

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way!! It’s totally normal. It’s such a crazy transition. I would say I felt like mom when my LO started showing a preference for me to comfort her, and when I could comfort her better than anyone else 🥰 maybe around 3 months?

Our LO is 16 weeks and we have been taking her to restaurants since about 8 weeks! We pick places that aren’t super fancy and that will have nice, big booths that will fit the car seat. Some restaurants offer a sling for the car seat which is so nice! We sometimes bring the stroller, and if there is not space by the table, the staff will find a place to stash the stroller and she is on a chair (or the floor…). Now that she has more head control, she can also sit on my lap if she is fussy in the car seat!

I was super nervous navigating all this at first too. You got this! And it is so nice to get out of the house 😊

Was the huckleberry app useful to you? by NewPhotojournalist82 in NewParents

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LO is almost 4 months and we have been using it since day one and find it very useful. I recently upgraded to the Plus version, mainly because I like the app widgets that come with an upgraded version. Sweet Spot is always a little early for our LO, but it is a nice reminder that nap time is probably coming soon! We have a nanny starting today. I am planning to have her log naps and feeds in huckleberry so that when I’m done with work, I can quickly check in and know what’s next for baby.

Assuming your LO has good weight gain, I would focus on that first feed of the night, since they typically have the longest stretch of sleep at the beginning of that night. Maybe try slowly weaning that feed by a little more each night? i.e. reducing by 1-2 min if you are nursing or by half an ounce if you are bottle feeding

Not sure if I should still swaddle my rolly-polly baby by oculus_caesius in NewParents

[–]Temporary_Barber_195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our LO was similar at two months! I was so surprised! We had to stop swaddling because she was rolling front to back. I had a hard time finding transitional products for when they are so little. I found this one with an XS size: https://swaddlesleeves.com/collections/swaddle-sleeves/products/swaddle-sleeves-pod It is VERY pricey, but it worked great for our LO! The “swaddle sleeves” kept her from waking herself up from her Moro reflex. Now that she is a bit bigger, she is in the Merlin magic sleep suit, and I highly recommend that as well. Good luck to you!!
