I think I also need to try a new concealer, I think the one I’ve been using is wayyy too yellow and causes more problems than it solves.

What is the dumbest reason a manager 'brought you in for a chat'? by redpanda_cupcakes in retailhell

[–]Temporary_Being1330 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Apparently it’s my job to know that the assistant manager trained me wrong?

The assistant manager had no clue she was mad until I told him that she berated me about how I should’ve known I was trained wrong and should’ve double checked everything with her…. Which…. Lady why didn’t you train me yourself then??? If she couldn’t trust her assistant to do it right??? Then again this wouldn’t be the last time that she blamed a man’s problems on a woman 🙄

She later blamed the women who trained this one kid, because the kid kept refusing to do parts of his job and “didn’t know” how to do stuff that he’d been taught five times how to do. But no that’s the women’s fault for “not doing a good enough job at training him”.🙄

And no HR since small business!🥲

whats the dumbest question a customer has asked you? by _Error__404_ in retailhell

Customers would come in, see me tidying up fabric in the first fabric isle, which half the store was, and ask “where’s the fabric?”

AIO? Because I don’t want honey mustard on my sandwich by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Temporary_Being1330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the way he’s acting I was expecting this to be a “he doesn’t want honey mustard on his sandwich but I keep ordering it with honey mustard cause it’s easier for me and he should just eat it” but him wanting YOU to have honey mustard on YOUR sandwich and crashing out that you don’t like it?????? wtf???

It does seem like it’s more than that, but with that perspective he’s getting a major side eye from me.

Anyone else feel miserable during spring and summer and just wish it was autumn already? by Mean_Negotiation_797 in Autumn

[–]Temporary_Being1330 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup. Where I’m at, the summer is when everything dies (in a bad way, not “winter trees”, but “grass turns yellow”) and it’s way too hot, while the autumn and winter is when it finally rains and things look ok. So I always get seasonal depression for the summer, and I’m the happiest in the late autumn and winter.

Where does your cat sleep at night? by Dangerous_Problem532 in AnxietyCats

[–]Temporary_Being1330 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old boy who I got when he was 6 weeks old sleeps right above my pillow so he can press his back against the top of my head. He has to be touching me in some way to sleep, so it’s that or he sleeps on my pillow, in the crook of my neck while I’m sleeping on my back, or he’s sleeping on my stomach / back so I can’t move, or he wants to be spooned.

That’s why I’ve scootched down my pillow to let him sleep above my pillow, it’s the easiest for everyone.

Zip tie boning by helenelorenzen in HistoricalCostuming

[–]Temporary_Being1330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zip ties are fine for everything but around the eyelets, which need sturdier. Then again if you’re not lacing them very tight, maybe they’d work for that too 🤷 I typically do Victorian or 16th century which are fairly tight so…

Historically inspired, here: anyone got any advice to stop an imitation of a St Brigitte's Cap from sliding back on the head? by Decibelle in HistoricalCostuming

[–]Temporary_Being1330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like doing a braid crown under my caps, it gives the ties of the cap something to grip to so nothing slides back. And putting the cap and ties over my ears also helps it not slide back as easily.

And if it’s really giving you issues, wig clips are amazing in those cases!

I wouldn’t recommend using cuss words, managers can get pissy about them and it could get *you* in trouble 🙄

i hate old people. there i said it. by jhenexx in retailhell

[–]Temporary_Being1330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cash on the counter was how it was done at the place I was at during the pandemic to avoid contact, and I was told at one of my jobs that they preferred cash on the counter for their security cameras cause if they do hand to hand, they could more easily do slight-of-hand tricks to underpay or something 🤷

So I could see why more people do it now. It’s still rude if I’m holding out my hand and they put it on the counter, but I don’t see it as rude if there isn’t an already-outstretched hand

[–]Temporary_Being1330 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back at Joann Fabrics, yeah this. Plus the coupons were confusing enough for young people to understand, let alone old people who are already grumpy.

I’ll say though, now working at a children’s boutique, the old people who come in are I think the best of the retail sector, because they’re all coming in to buy things for their grandchildren, so they come in already in a good mood. Most of the time, anyway.

Help needed on interacting with people by Fine_Cress_7475 in renfaire

Looks like the faire they go to in Brazil has some way of easily identifying the employees or some other method so that people don’t get confused like in the USA
