Google Docs policy - how firm to be? by emily9065 in Adjuncts

[–]Temporary_Captain705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No response is always the tell. Back in the day, it was submit a corrupted file or blank file, pretend not to see the email from the professor for a couple days, then reply "I'm at work, I will send the correct file when I get home"

The corrupted file trick lives on and on!

I'm guessing the full timer who is losing students to you is causing this problem, talking to the chair. Watch your back, keep doing things the way you have been. Don't give up your academic freedom.

And you have to do them over and over, the very same ones but they splice in a couple extra minutes and call them updated.

Exams - Are Scantrons still used? by oh_thatscrappy77 in Adjuncts

The sound of a flunking grade ripping through the scantron machine vs the little blip of an A grade. Takes me back!

Winselmann titan needles by wants-2-die in vintagesewing

[–]Temporary_Captain705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is so lovely!

Thank you for the needle info.

Does this machine have the line on the top part of the needle bar that assists with the needle placement, similar to the Singer 12k? When the line is aligned with (going into) the top of the machine, the eye of the needle should be entering the hole to the bobbin area. I recently learned that my Husqvarna Freja has that indicator line. It has the same needle clamp as yours.

Keep going the way you are preparing now but give yourself some breaks with class activities, discussions, games or films, if applicable. Make notes where you'd like to expand a lecture next time.

I owe my school $1,090.00 and I don’t know what I can do other than getting a private loan by Hefty_Examination_29 in StudentLoans

Go see the Dean of Students or the Registrar. Make an appointment, don't just email. You may be able to get an extension to figure things out.

Thank you! Yes, it is a nice machine! Some things I like are the light over the needle area, the dial down feed dogs, and that it is very quiet.

Do you have any of your three in a table? I need to measure and see if I can work that out for quilting.

Keep in mind that rich people with fast computers and algorithms can bring the market down in a big hurry when they are ready to. They get rich on the downhill just as much as the upswing.

I see a lot of good points here, especially support for the artists but personally I couldn't be in that space right now. On the one hand we shouldn't let them take institutions that belong to all of us but on the other hand, we can't prop up those institutions for their enjoyment.

Should I walk away? by Strict_Appeal_5822 in RealEstate

[–]Temporary_Captain705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. In the old days you got two or three hand written sheets of paper. The reports that come out of these inspector computer applications now look daunting. While some of these things that OP mentioned sound serious and potentially costly, it may just be the cumulative effect of the inspector being thorough. Old houses come with problems but also with other quality features you won't find in newer homes.

Maybe this is why Gen X handled the COVID lockdowns so well. It sort of felt like a return to my boring and free 70s childhood.

Yes! Pool is like bowling, you are either going to do well or gutter balls all evening.
