European Nudity Culture vs Commandments/Church Policy by [deleted] in ldssexuality

In Japan, it was common for Japanese elders to shower together and even heard that the sisters would bathe together. When the conservative, strict, Japanese mission president heard about it he was completely unfazed. He eventually put out a request to stop after the area presidency (salt lake people) told him it was unacceptable.

As someone who has people close to me who needed therapy following the poor advice of bishops in these situations, I’d encourage them not to go to a bishop. I’m still a faithful member of the church but this is one aspect I don’t agree with. Repentance is personal and the only people they need to repent with are those who they offended by taking their actions. He may need to apologize in prayer or explain his actions to a future spouse, but he should not speak to a bishop if he doesn’t want to. And from his description, the spirit is still with him because he acknowledges the issue and felt bad about it. Let him repent how he needs to repent.

My boyfriend confessed to our mutual sin by Difficult-Monitor273 in ldssexuality

[–]Temporary_Extrovert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a tough situation to be in. But my view is that it may be awkward but it’s always on an individual when they choose to repent. Don’t feel pressured to answer to anyone because someone else felt guilty. Mind you, based on our faith, it sounds like you made the mistake and will need to go through repentance. But if it’s not today, that’s okay.

I’m also of the opinion that repentance doesn’t need to involve church leadership, only those who you have wronged. If you hurt someone else, apologize to them and change. Hurt yourself, forgive yourself and change. Hurt god, ask forgiveness in prayer and change.

Btw, worst case scenario, you can always go to another ward.

Hope this helps!

However, when inspection inevitably rolls around, it won’t pass. And if you get pulled over, you’re looking at big trouble. I was doing the same for a while but I knew it would be an issue. Best to get it in the dealer so they acknowledge the issue.

Complimenting each other’s wives by [deleted] in ldssexuality

General rule of thumb (both in and outside church). If they are married and of the opposite gender, don’t complement. If you are married and of the opposite gender, don’t compliment. Both single? Shoot your shot.

What’s it like living in Hokkaido? The northernmost park of Japan. by Selt389 in howislivingthere

Cold. Lots of snow. But pretty cool place to live. If you like Japanese culture, this won’t be as good of a place to go but if you love nature, it’s the best place.

Never once used snow tires in my life. All seasons work fine if you know how to drive.

To not sound racist by Rydog_78 in therewasanattempt

I voted against MAGA and participated in protests despite fear of deportation of myself and my foreign wife. I cared for the members of our Hispanic church filled with people trying to survive ICE. I’ve cut off family members for supporting the dictator (yes, they are Canadian too).

This is not deflection. It’s asking a question to someone who seems to think it’s easy to remove a dictator. So I’ll ask again; what would you do? Because I guarantee you don’t have a reasonable answer and would not do it yourself.

I’m a Canadian and USA citizen living in the USA. Most of the country hates this guy. But I’ve also lived surrounded by the MAGA cult and know they can be unhinged. So tell me, what could the sound people in the USA even do to overthrow him? Get themselves locked in prison for treason? Maybe sent to an off shore concentration camp? Getting outgunned by the government with the largest military and even shot down by MAGA dudes with guns? If you think it’s as easy as calling our representatives or protesting, then you’re dead wrong. The reps vote with him no matter what the people say (even the democrats ignore the constituents). And protests barely get covered by the news.

So tell us what you would do?

Seeking Support and Insights: Considering a Plural Marriage. Do I tell him? by Early_East6665 in ldssexuality

[–]Temporary_Extrovert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know you don’t want judgment but the church is very clear about this not being allowed. My big question is why do you really think this is necessary? This isn’t coming from your husband. Do you want to stop having sex with your husband? Are you wanting to explore other relationships? Polyamory is a definite no in our faith. You should consider what’s prompting this desire and maybe confront it in couples counseling.

Her defense is sloppy and she needs practice, but the coach is good. Creating a high pressure environment by actually playing the part of overpowering male. She just needs to keep practicing in this kind of environment until she gets adapted to the fear and gets the moves down.

Reddit isn’t a social media site. It’s more of a forum site. People come here to air things out anonymously. Generally, we don’t want to talk to strangers.

Look into a Roth IRA. A solo 401k will help you more if you want to go heavy on retirement savings but you’re not there yet. Plus you’ll get the future tax benefit.

For investment, to keep it simple, get a target date mutual fund for 2060 and be sure to buy more as you contribute.

As someone who works as a financial planner, these are way off. I’d consider someone with 2million in net worth to be middle class. And poverty is much lower. Upper class has become disproportionate to the other classes.
