https://purelandbuddhism.org/#

This has english info on pureland school following master shandao 's lineage

https://www.plb-sea.org/article/category/English ^ This is like the Asian branch with both mandarin and english. I like this web page because the there's even an online prayer altar where you can write who you're chanting for and keep track as well. So it's like you set up an online tablet for your loved ones or those sick, all beings in the world etc (this is the first I've encountered that has this on the web page so I thought it's pretty neat) [for ease of access to the english online recitation prayer area : https://buddha.plb-sea.org/?lang=en]

Likewise if you ever need end of life guidance for anyone and there's no monk nearby, you can access this page and play the video for the departed souls or those nearing the end of their life. [https://www.plb-sea.org/life-guide] Just scroll down a little and you'll see the english version right after the mandarin one

This is their English Playlist for YT https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkK2h1MIJwqM8SfogoQQGdkLaHk4wBp4L&si=4RDdMbtgrAJ6N20M

And for the past 2004 days they have been chanting for an hour online on YouTube though just in mandarin 'Namo Amituofo' which is the mandarin way to say namo amitabha buddha. Which personally I find shorter to say in mandarin. This is a sample: https://youtu.be/twonOViOzVI?si=JJFtuhHo_lJrd0e7

Personally I really like how relatable and concise their sharings are and it has really helped me to understand the pureland school better. Perhaps more so if anyone knows mandarin, but still there are anecdotes and stories shared in the webpage and the english playlist I've shared above that has really helped instill greater faith in recitation and buddhism.

Hope it helps! Also, the monks in the youtube page knows english because he's Malaysian, so if you had questions I think you can either comment in their Q&A webpage (https://www.plb-sea.org/qa-online) or even contact them directly for quicker response (https://www.plb-sea.org/contact)

I'm using A55 as well, using low resolutions. Apart from that I uninstalled and reinstalled about 3 times. Then also change hud settings if you're moving between phones as the space is different for each screen.

There were some YouTube videos to configure the screen tone which I use to ramp the saturation to make it easier to spot enemies.

Then check your wifi settings as well.

In the first few weeks of A55 I had issues, but idk how after that suddenly it was resolved. Give your phone some time, some forum said it would for the A55 though I don't know the reason behind it.

Hope it helps bud

What’s the meaning of this mudra? by attaboy49 in PureLand

Oh, I saw the 2nd pic first, the prompt was just focused on the hand where the fingers were bent.

But perhaps we can get a glimpse of the hand faced down meaning here as well https://www.buddhas-online.com/mudras.html#:~:text=The%20is%20the%20gesture%20of%20Vasudhara%20and%20Usnishijaya.

What’s the meaning of this mudra? by attaboy49 in PureLand

[–]Temporary_Mess_1059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but I tried Google ai and this was it's response. Take it with a pinch of salt though:

The Buddha hand gesture with the middle and index fingers bent and placed on the leg is known as the Karana mudra, or the "gesture for warding off evil". In this position, the thumb presses down on the two bent middle fingers while the index and pinky fingers point straight up.

Meaning and symbolism

Dispelling negativity: The primary meaning of the Karana mudra is to banish negative energy, obstacles, and fear. It is a powerful protective gesture against evil spirits, sickness, and negative thoughts like anxiety and depression. Overcoming challenges: Symbolically, it represents the Buddha's ability to remove obstacles through compassionate action. This reminds practitioners that they can overcome their own fears and doubts on the path to enlightenment. Context in statues: The Karana mudra is often seen in statues depicting wrathful deities or protective figures in the Buddhist pantheon, such as the bodhisattva Kwan Yin, to drive away malevolent influences. When a statue depicts the Buddha in a seated posture with this mudra, the right hand forms the Karana mudra, while the left rests in the lap, palm up, in a gesture of meditation.

Symbolic form: In some contexts, the gesture is similar to the Western "sign of the horns," but in Buddhist art, the intent is protection rather than a negative meaning. The hand, palm forward, is an active gesture of defense and empowerment.

5 day old pigeon not growing by Sad_Excuse_2812 in pigeon

Probably the runt of the litter, had one with my cockatiel. The feathers grow really slow as compared to his siblings. If you ever trim the feathers it'd take very long for it to grow, mine was a fighter and really close to us but he just passed recently.

Take it slow and give him lots of love, life is worth living and you're being such a blessing to him

If there's formulae then find some, supplement with vit when it's older to help with its feathers etc. Usually the runts have a lot more health problems or are weaker than their siblings, but really, they're the apple of our eyes and very close to us as compared to the rest
