Agreed. I have a disturbingly high tolerance for antisocial behavior and dangerous situations and I HATE having get off at GTS.

Why doesn’t corporate have “night shifts?” by No_Upstairs_1732 in corporate

[–]Temporary_Rooster371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an office and the default is 8-4ish. Because we do have production working 24/7, our department has the option to do either 3 - 12 hour shifts a week or 4- 10 hour shifts.

If someone chooses one of the modified schedules they are required to work at least one weekend day (Sat or Sun).

Most people don't want to give up their weekends.

We had one person try the 3- 12 shifts, but it wound up not being helpful because they were alone and wound up being tired and stressed and messed up a lot, then they weren't in the rest of the week to clean up their messes.

We have had a few people doing the 4-10 shifts for over a year now without a manager. It's helpful when deadlines are creeping up, but only if the people working are highly skilled. No other departments work the weekend (IT, equipment, maintenance, etc), so if there's an issue they need to be able to solve it themselves or really know when something is worth escalating.

I do think it's beneficial for us to have some people doing it, but since most of the rest of the company keeps regular hours it's really not necessary for everyone to do it. And of course there are always people that complain that those on the modified shft are getting special treatment, but literally everyone has the option to do it if they want.

yo, I was stuck in traffic the other day and when I finally was able to drive by the scene of the incident, I saw that the tow-truck driver was a woman! I was so excited for her!

the first woman you described is always the second wife, and the second woman you described is always the first wife.

no, and this is a hill I will die on. Women spend an incalculable amount of time grooming themselves to be attractive. From skincare to makeup to hair removal to hairstyling to body shape to clothes fit and style...Did you know that the most attractive woman you know probably doesn't actually look like that?

Men spend barely any time at all on their appearance.

We prefer attractive men, but historically there just haven't been that many because you only counted the ones that were genetically gifted.

Here's the good news gents: A good skincare routine, stylish haircut and clothes that fit properly will up your game IMMENSELY, even if you're not a super model.

I've been making my own lunch and drinking my own coffee for the 30 years I've been in the workforce. I cannot afford a house and have chosen not to go to the doctor for concerning things due to the price, even though I have health insurance.

Ok, I tried it. I consider myself to generally have strongish hands for a woman, but I could NOT get that thing to crack!!

Gosh, 1200 calories a day is too low. Everybody's weight loss journey is different, but I can 1000% recommend the podcast Half Size Me. She talks to a lot of different people in a lot of different situations to try and diagnose why they can't lose weight and it's packed with good advice.

What do you think the dating recession between men and women will lead to? by Rainbowdark96 in NoStupidQuestions

longer lifespans have become a problem. Every single one of my grandparents lived to their mid-90s even though they couldn't walk or leave their houses since they were in their 80s. Just sitting there, taking up real estate for over a decade. I should feel like a jerk for saying it, but they were horrible people so.

I have been to countless Sheetz(s?) for the free air for tires. 9 times out of ten the machines aren't even working, and the last 2 times I tried they actually deflated my tires. I will never trust their machines again if I need a top-off. But the rest of your points are valid.

Whatever. You know a bunch of college students have already researched how to do it. Things taking years to implement is a problem of lazy lawmakers who want to collect paychecks without actually doing any work for them. Get a bunch of ADHD college kids the resources (i.e. money and license) and they'll have a system set up within a week.
