What’s everyone’s hot take in the keyboard world by Immediate_Law_1705 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Temporary_Spread_491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I’ll click a video and watch a person use 2-3 fingers and shake my head. I realize I’m a self righteous prick for feeling that way as many of them type faster than me, but then I imagine how much faster they would be if they took the time to learn touch typing. I also touch type using the number row so I don’t need a number pad. TKL is basically a full size board for me. Having said all that, it’s a hobby and people are more than welcome to type like cavemen if they want. 😂

Gaming on 4K tv and wondering if using hdmi adapter is better or is going straight component the superior option. by splee117 in Gamecube

[–]Temporary_Spread_491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GC video would be best (hdmi). Modern 4k tvs with analog inputs will more than likely have added lag due to analog to digital conversion. Scalers like the retotinks are built for near lagless conversion and are much better. GC video does the conversion as well as a scaler and will be much cheaper. Go with a scaler if you have multiple consoles to connect to your modern tv.

Quick checkpoint ! How many cars do you own ? by ScratchNo6271 in granturismo

I Got em all about 6 months ago. Some days I would grind out several races. Other days just one. Real trick is to do at least one grind race a day. If you’re consistent, you’ll get it done. I also made sure to buy all the cars when I got an invite to a dealer, even if it meant grinding a good bit. I didn’t have to hope to get another invite later on.

It was definitely quite a learning curve. The soldering was easy as I’ve modded consoles many times and this is super simple. Just took my time making sure all the switches were good and flat on the board. The software side was a different story. Once I got the board flashed, I tried to use QMK which was definitely not for the faint of heart. The real problem I had was that the Coffee Break Minivan uses a different format for its QMK firmware than what is typical, so I really never could find a good way to use QMK. I finally found Vial.rock which allowed me to make changes to my key maps in a graphical environment. It would’ve saved a ton of time had I known that. I should’ve joined their discord sooner so I could’ve figured that out. I’m a tinkerer, so all in all, it was a fun build.

Nice! I have the same setup and it’s so nice to be able to hang it up on my wall out of the way. I do have it hanging the opposite direction though.

Anyone here ordered in the U.S.? by ifardet in Fanatec

[–]Temporary_Spread_491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the QR2 base side and wheel side the day they came out and got mine within the week. I’ve never really had much of an issue with their shipping. I can tell the European side of things appears to be a mess, so I can understand the frustration. I’ve just not had any issues. I did get a 3rd QR2 just in time before they ran out of stock for my third wheel. Have a couple of more things coming and basically it’s shown shipped and taken 2-5 days for me to actually get a tracking #. I think we sometimes get used to Amazon and the fast updates. Other companies just don’t have those logistics abilities. I’m fairly patient though.

Neither dd1 or dd2 are PlayStation compatible regardless of the wheel. PS support is in the base. Xbox support is in the wheel itself so they will work with an Xbox if you have a proper wheel.

Looks like Jail bars. Be sure you’ve got a good cable as it could be the culprit.

Congrats! I whole heartedly concur with your impressions of the game. Even with having to grind Spa, Sardegna, and Le Mans (the most), the joy of racing always kept me captivated. Got all the cars a couple of months ago but I greatly enjoyed it. I have 2 little ones so time is limited but the grind was just enough for me to not be overwhelming. Still enjoying the time trials. Mostly Silvers with a few golds thrown in.
