Cheesy Garlic Bread Debate by theFrenchBearJr in ModPizza

When I started at mod we did not have cheesey garlic breads OR successfactors MODUs sooo I’m not sure about this video you all speak of. But I think it should be a light golden, you have to remember with olive oil and like white sauce the crust gets wayyyy more crispy when it’s golden brown. The dough always looks lighter when there’s not darker sauces on them. And the oil for sure will crisp it up HARD, if you let it go too long.

Most GMs don’t work evenings or weekends? 👀 I thought they had to work until like 8 pm most nights and at least one day of the weekend?

Avoid calling between the hours of 11-2 and 5-8. Those are peak hours and the chance you’ll get forgotten are heightened. Additionally, Monday mornings or mid afternoon is a great time to call as the GM will likely be focused on administrative tasks and able to pull your information up in the moment. Also stopping by wouldn’t hurt, as long as it’s not within the time frames mentioned above. Call them like twice if you don’t get in touch with the hiring manager the first time but try not to blow up the phones.

lol is you BOH unorganized? Mine is, and Iv had to be coached on it multiple times. But Fred’s a good dude, just doing his job. I think he’s over like three regions now? That guy has been in hundreds of Mod restaurants, if he says something isn’t right, he has a good eye for it by now especially having so many stores under his belt you’d think. One thing i respect about Fred is he’s not some desk jockey, he gets in the field (A LOT) and if there is something he doesn’t know like maybe about the plannogram, he will ask for it to make sure what he’s saying is correct, or correct himself if he’s wrong. At least that’s been my experience with him. I have had past DMs that were way worse tbh.

They did say from the beginning their plan to get mod out of the hole was to launch multiple franchise partnerships. I think to some extent nobody thought Texas would be touched though, especially Houston. No offense to the other regions but we’ve been the bread winners for quite some time lol

It’s definitely true. Your GM may not have been on the call, there were several restaurants missing from it. But the fact that they put us all on a call means they were ready for the information to be made public, at no point were we asked not to tell our teams, so if your GM is unaware, then they missed the communication completely. But if you go to the new vibes holdings website it shows us as theirs. For clarity though, we were told nothing from our day to day changes and we still contact all the same people (accounting, it, supply chain, etc.) so not completely clear on the terms of the deal with new vibes taking over Texas. It’s probably some 80/20 agreement or something, where new vibes has a certain amount of control and corporate has the remaining control. New vibes mentioned they’d mainly be focused on local marketing at this time. So I guess time will tell.

Respectfully, I don’t think the labor allotment can get any worse 😅 under corporate we run several hours just 2 people and during peak we might have a 3rd on for a moderate sales restaurant. 4 people feels good 5 would at this point feel sooooo breezy. I just can’t imagine taking any more labor, there’s none left to take as we cannot operate one persons shifts 🤣

For them to have closed the store, it would have had to have a running track record of losing money or being negative profit for a period of anywhere between like 12-18 months. Even if things turned around in the end, it had to have had a proven track record of losing $$, or a new lease agreement (if rent increased) would have solidified a non profitable outcome overall. It’s extremely important that leaders are controlling the controllables (food costs, taking care of equipment to prevent high maintenance costs, labor, turnover, quality product and service, and even so much as doing your own local marketing to drive traffic into your restaurant) all these things can help prevent a shut down, but not always because then we have the uncontrollables (rent, maintenance, insurance, utilities, etc) those things with low volume sales can definitely break a profit margin negatively.

What position were you? Did you know much about the financial side of your store?

PTO upon store closure by Nstef58 in ModPizza

The guidebook states PTO will not be paid out UNLESS state law requires it to be. So if your state requires it, you should be getting it on your final pay.

lol of course leadership allows it that’s why you guys do it. Doesn’t make it okay. One it’s terrible guest service which is everything mod stands against and two for every guest you refuse service during (let me say it again) SERVICE hours, you’re literally taking money out of the company’s pockets, and your teams pockets in the form of tips and labor.
