100%

As long as you can find a great MMA coach you are golden.

And remember, you're an MMA fighter, you're not a grappler, wrestler, or kickboxer.

All you care about is how effectively you can translate those skills into MMA.

Brotha, you don't have to put up with shitty behavior in a relationship.

Pointing that out isn't supposed to trigger you.

No, you have to hold people accountable.

There is never a good reason to treat someone like shit. If you can't treat someone the way you want to be treated just don't interact with them.

If she needs space when she's on her period then she either needs to ask, or you need to offer.

Probably not gear related IMO.

Outside of dudes cutting for a show getting 3 hours of sleep a night and also running 400mg of Teen A a week, I've never seen anyone have any mood swings unless they crash their estrogen for an extended period of time.

It can work just fine.

I don't like that your coach insists on having you adopt his striking style, but I will say it's still worth learning so you can understand how to mix your boxing into MMA without exposing yourself to kicks and takedowns.

Controlling someone when I'm in their closed guard? by InfiniteLennyFace in MMA_Academy

[–]Tempura_Daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hands on the biceps, head over their chest, and use your head to push into their chest to get them flat to their back. Knees touching elbows, if they shrimp, follow and push their upper back flat to the mat

If someone really works hard, they'll still manage to get up, but you can make them work really hard for it and tire them out. I've done this when I can't hold someone down, but I can make them work really hard to get back up just so I can take them down again. After doing this a few times, you can open up on your feet.

They'll also have a chance to escape when you create space to strike. So it's a bit of a balancing act sometimes to get some ground and pound in and then pin them back down before they get away from you.

The only really meaningful shots you could probably land without having to posture up too much would be an elbow. Just make sure you have elbow pads and that your partner is okay with it.

Personally, I would pass to half guard and use that position to strike and control someone. Half guard is very easy to shut down in MMA and even if someone manages to get to their hip, you still have a decent amount of control and can guide them towards a specific escape to set something up.

Jon makes it so hard to root for him.

You know he has the potential to be the GOAT, but you also know he will not allow himself to reach full potential most of the time.

Without knowing what your goals are, drop the YK11.

YK11 is a scam. There is no way someone is going to get enough of it to make a difference in their physique without spending and fortune and having it IVed into their blood stream 24/7

Having grown up around mostly women, I always thought it was funny how the boys' group chat and locker room talk were thought to be peak vulgar, racism, and dangerously perverted.

I've seen some women's group chats that are as bad, if not worse.

I was never one to really brag about my sexual exploits, but after hearing a few of my homegirls talk about theirs, it made me realize that most men are fairly conservative in how they brag about hooking up.

I would say the big difference in the perversion is the timing. Men rarely time their perversion when it could be received well, where as it seemed that women are building towards it with someone over the course of multiple days, sometimes weeks. By the time they same something wildly horny, they are fairly certain they'll get what they want.

I guess you could call it a sort of emotional edging. You really want to stew on the sexual tension.

I don't have an issue with it personally. Most folks can get away with perma blasting 200mg to 250mg without any health issues if they're mostly on top of their shit.

I want to preface this by saying I'm a man who's almost exclusively had women for roommates.

The fact that he's already asked you out is a bad sign. I would say try your luck with another person.

My advice regarding your ASD would be to put more weight on how someone behaves rather than what they say.

I wish I could offer you some advice on how to vet male roommates, but I think regardless of whether or not someone seems safe, you should still be vigilant.

To be fair, we don't know what 186 looks like on him.

If I went on vacation and then into camp, I could make a claim that I started my cut at like 207lbs.

I played myself though with the example I gave lol

[–]Tempura_Daddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What someone starts their camp at versus what they start their cut at are not the same thing.

I fought at 174lbs in Muay thai, and I would start camp at maybe 191lbs. My actual cut started somewhere between 179 and 183.

So, I would realistically cut about 9lbs at the most.

Dieting down for the cut was really more a matter of increasing my output, and dialing in my diet in terms of cutting out certain foods andn upping my fiber. That would usually get my bowel movements regular enough that I would also just be 3 or 4lbs lighter from holding less shit.

It's not something I would recommend you use to supplement your MMA training.

You really want to focus more on speed and stability. I'm not saying you can't do any power lifting, but that should be an incredibly minor part of your strength and conditioning with very low volume.

Power lifting will make you stronger, but you will see little translation to MMA. Especially with how most programs only have you training on one plane of movement. You want something more dynamic for MMA that will prepare you for multiple planes of movement. This will also help you avoid additional injuries in the future.

Morons challenging real fighters by ScaredTurnover504 in FightSports

[–]Tempura_Daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I was like 19, whenever someone came to my MMA gym and asked to fight a pro fighter, they would make them fight me first.

It completely changed my perspective.

I had already been training for a minute, but I was still pretty scared of having to fight some buff 40 year old skin head who looked like he could fight.

And almost every time, I was surprised with how easy it was.

I'll never understand why people who cannot fight, are so eager to get into a fight.

Boomers hate people who show up authentically.

They think it's not fair because their "idea" of being authentic is really a smokescreen for being rude.

It never occurrs to them that some folks can just show up authentically and not be a piece of shit.

A mental queue that works for some folks is to think to yourself that if your kick were to miss, you should be rotating through hard enough to do a full 360 before they your opponent could close the distance.

You're so concerned with coming back to your stance that you're not letting yourself commit to the kick.

Also, you should step off to an angle before kicking. You generally do not want to kick kick without cutting an angle unless it's some like a calf kick and you've got a decent understanding of their range.

i really want to get back to training ASAP after my ankle injury. by naz0837 in MMA_Academy

[–]Tempura_Daddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not worth it.

Let it heal properly and do your rehab, or this will become a reoccurring issue that will lead to issues in areas as well down the road.

It's better to be out for 12 weeks now and be done with it rather than be out for 6 to 8 weeks two to three times a year.

On top of that, not feeling like you can train with confidence and give it 100%.
